Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Mrs. AK-Bird-Brain :

I saw that article, too... my Marans roosters are rapists, but my Dorkings are perfect gentlemen. I love watching them dance.

My blue Orpington Bob is a gentleman too, which is a good thing because I think he's up to 12 pounds now. But the girls never have a feather out of place.

Ok so where did you get Bob? Who would have some eggs? There is an Auction this weekend and Eric is going for a ride.

Beth, I don't know if you remember my Cassidy. She was Kira and Jake's half sister from the first batch of Dels I hatched. She died suddenly at 24 weeks old, just before she would have laid her first egg. We know it was a heart issue because we opened her up and found lots of dark arterial blood in her chest cavity and one chamber of the heart imploded. She was completely healthy, just a tad smaller than Kira at the time. It just happens sometimes, I suppose. Your Buckshot was not related to her, though.

Thanks, everyone. I had my good cry and we'll bury him this morning. I thought about opening him up, but I think that is beyond me- so far this has not been a good year for my pets!!!

Cynthia, I do remember you saying something about Cassidy- it makes sense it would be his heart, wouldn't it? Considering his position, with his little head under his wing, like he went in his sleep?

Anyway, thank you again, my friends. You are such great people!!!!

My Del babies are growing like weeds, I'm going to have to move them to a larger brooder soon, everytime I approach the box they run over and start jumping up at me like crazy. So cute.

I'm ordering more hatching eggs from Mrs. AK-Bird-Brain today, (hopefully!) she has an auction going on for 12+ Delaware eggs, the rooster pictured on her ad looks amazing to me.

Cyn, any word on how Cetawin is doing? Can we expect her back sometime soon?

Well, Ladyhawk's saga continues. I'll let her tell things in more detail, but she went to a dentist in her new area, who, though she had that they do in-house extractions on her website and told her they could do it when she got there, proceeded to charge her an arm and a leg for xrays and the exam, then was going to send her out to an oral surgeon when it's a simple extraction. So, she is still having tooth issues. And the Hughes Net installation was another "bait and switch" thing, which didn't sit well at all. The neighbor is allowing his chickens to free range everywhere and roost in her barn, not what she wants with her own chickens needing to be in the barn, so that is an issue. She's unpacking, trying to set up a predator proof situation in the barn for her birds, suffering jaw pain and generally having a hard time of it. And to top it off, the house is decorated in the most garish, unpleasant way, so she'll be needing to do lots of wallpaper removal, damaged/stained carpet removal, and painting. I'm hoping she'll be back here by the weekend, though. The girl has to rest for a few minutes some time, right?

What a homecoming!

That is terrible.
I had a similar situation develope here with the hens. I trapped them and one by one got them to him. I told him if they return I will dispose of them because of the security issue for my hens.
I have not had them return and another neighbor said he killed them all and was out of the chicken keepers.

Yeah!
Now if the Dogs would stay home I could let mine out on the grass once in awhile. The dogs are bull type. They are very quiet and you never know when they are near. They are a bit creepy. I hope things improve for Cetawin.
.

I am beginning to think those of us close by should road trip up to KY and help Cetawin with that place. What a rotten deal with the dentist! I don't think there is a worse pain! Anybody got a camper?
