Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

bahahahahaha I wish someone would show me where this 10 grinch strength is hiding in this house....I have not found it yet.

The 2 lb beast was back this morning...it made a fatal mistake. It flogged me and drew blood...so little menace is no more. I am now sitting here with my coffee waiting for the neighbor to come looking for him and you know what? *bats eyelashes* I have NO idea where the little guy is. That's my story and I am sticking to it. Although, I impressed DH with my dispatching ability...he nodded and said "I know you could survive in the woods if you ever got lost dear...nicely done"

I really do not want issues with my new neighbors, however, I cannot have his chickens roaming around here, especially little roos flogging me, and keep my birds in the garage. It is not fair to my babies and they should have the freedom to be outside on their 5 acres. Thor's little spur knobs would not help him against the neighbor's RIR rooster...he has some big ole spurs on him. Severus is showing no signs of spurs on his little EE legs. I cannot have Thor or Severus hurt...just cannot allow that.

So, am I being unreasonable in my mindset? Cheyenne shot the RIR rooster in the butt yesterday with her airsoft pistol, which will not break the skin or hurt them aside from sting and scare the crap out of them. The girls are gorgeous big ole girls and I wish I could keep them but....just cannot do it.

So, the lady we are getting the house from tossed Ag Lime in the stalls before she left, I have sprayed the barn wood down completely with a heavy bleach solution and let it dry and am considering doing an ammonia spray down now or another round of bleach. This coming week is going to be fixing the areas and securing them for my critters so they can get out of the garage for sleeping quarters.

Beth, for the record, I cannot just steal Suede, I must lure him with blueberry goodness. Stealing him would not be right...Cyn is my dear friend. But if Suede WANTS to come with me, well he must get what he wants right? I mean he is the Suedenator....same goes for Ike.

Bravo! That little snot had it coming, roaming across acreage just to attack the neighbors. He'd have disappeared from here, too. And, Go, Cheyenne! You're raising a self sufficient daughter there. You have every right to dispatch any bird who comes near yours. It's not right for you not to have the full enjoyment of your own property (or your birds) and he's lucky they haven't all been taken by predators anyway.

No tears here for the Banty Butthead. Flogging would quickly end things for Luke also- Ultrasuede MIGHT be given a second chance- but he has never even tried to peck at me.

Good for you and Cheyenne, Cetawin- it may take a few times to scare the others off permanently, but I bet you can do it. Cynthia is on the money-you do have the right to have YOUR chickens on your own property in safety- I hope your neighbor puts his logical thinking cap on!

As to cleaning, I think the lime and bleach and fresh air will take care of the barn- does any sunlight hit in there? Can you haul in any fresh dirt?

Seducing Suede with pancakes. . . .hmmmmm. . . .would that hold up in court? But I am sure Cynthia wants Suede and Ike's happiness more than she wants her own and would hold the car door open for you. . . .NOT!!!!!!!!!!

Kathy, I wasn't awake when I said your chicks looked good on yellow. I meant blue. See what no coffee does to me?

Good morning all Dellie lovers everywhere! Hope you have a beautiful day with your Dellie Darlings!

Ladyhawk's landlady already had fresh dirt brought in, so I think it's almost good to go. The only concern with a dirt floor is that things can tunnel in, so maybe some fence wire is in order on the ground or just some good dig barriers.

That is the plan...hardwire cloth inside on the wood and under then out a few feet. I am going to go take pics in a few minutes so you all can see what I am dealing with. I have already started raking in the lime this morning.

Beth..yellow you say...I will show you yellow....put on your sunglasses now

Say Hello to my hideous kitchen and diningroom

Here is how the birds were loaded into the U-Haul...notice the food on the top right, the straw in the big black garbage bag....

Anconas in the middle and the GH are in two crates on top of the left coop. My king mattress was wrapped in shrink wrap and place on top to keep the crates from shifting

I put a floor in the two little coops so they were double deckers.....each level had 4 or 5 chickens. We stopped every 3.5 - 4 hours and checked food and water and gave them fresh air...they had battery operated fans (2) going and at night or when we stopped for sleep, I unlatched the u-haul which brought the door up about an inch and a half....so they had airflow at night and etc. Each level had three waterers and the ducks had gallon jugs cut in half so they could get their heads in it.

They did really good..in hotter weather though, the trip would be rough and they would need to be in a more open air area for sure.

Wonder if she's a bit color blind, from all the different colors she had in that house.

Pssst, my friend, you'll have to call me with the details of your run-in with the mini-terrorist rooster.
