Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Thanks Kathy,

By the color being too much-- I guess I am thinking they should have more white and less spots. Yes? Isaac doesn't have all those spots. I don't know if this boy will molt them out.

Zephyrcreek, I bet something is setting the hens off. Birds don't make a bunch of noise at that time (dark) unless something is prowling (at least not from what I have seen)

I bought a spy cam and really like it. I don't use it alot but when I need it, I have it. Right now I set it right outside the porch. I want to see why the cats are howling and hissing and one of them has a chunk out of it.

Could be a predator, or may be each other, but I will keep it up until I find out.

Germaine, if I may be so bold as to you address you by first name, those girls are both bossy bits. They get the normal diet aside from my homemade baked goodies like their scrambled egg casseroles, seed blocks, grits, steamed rice and steamed veggies. They are both very talkative, Cannonball is always talking to me and she tries to talk to her grandma when Cyn is on the phone and I am trying to get her out of trouble somewhere. Fattie will be quiet and then suddenly look at you and scream bloody murder until you show her affection...if that fail she bites!

Zephyr - mine do that too and most of the time it is almost like they are looking at you as if to say "Ah thanks for coming down now go away". Who knows...someone steps on someone or someone gets to close to their roosting spot and all hellz breaks loose.

As soon as I am over this nasty cold and start coop modifications on the shed I think I will install motion sensors on the outside or something so I know if anything is out there before I go running outside in the near buff to check on them. Brats.

Lady Hawk, I really think you should write a childrens book about your two girls. I know I love to read their theatrics! Oh and don't forget Thor--and the CAT!!!!!!!

I bought the spy cam --now don't laugh too hard-- to see which hens were laying in the coop. I could never catch any in the box and I wanted to know who it was laying the eggs.

But it has come in handy to catch a feral cat absconding with my duck and goose eggs, for catching the coyote pack right outside the coop and it gives me peace of mind.

The infra red light actually scared the coyotes away. At least that is what the trapper said. I guess fox and coons don't care about the light but coyotes spook easily so they moved out farther. I know they are still there but now at least I know they are coyotes.

Everyone around home kept saying it was badgers or fox and not coyote because they didn't hear them yipping. The spy cam doesn't lie.

I bought it online at Walmart and it wasn't a bad price. You can set it to snap pics or video for a certain time. I worried about battery life but I have never had to replace them yet.

I know there is something fighting with the cats but I don't know what. So it is outside in the yard. It works at night with no problem.

And you catch the funniest pictures on there. Chickens getting up close and personal and even kids and spouses that want to be noticed. They do funny things on there and then watch my face as I see them doing it.

LOL I am seriously considering writing "The Adventures of Thor ... a rooster's tale"

I have to get Cyn to let me use a pic of Suede and of Smoky because Thor would have to talk about where he came from and how he came to be.

The cat does not mess with the birds and Thor stalks her so she stays out of range. I would have to talk about his dislike for dogs...that is a must. I think tomorrow I will get a pic of his dusthole...it is huge I mean 3 girls fit in it

hahahaha

This spy cam sounds like a wonderful investment and I am going to check it out. I would feel better having something up to show me what is coming around the coop at night. May need to get two...one for the front and one for the backside.

I feel it was worth the money. The anguish of losing animals and not knowing how or why or what outweighed the minimal price. And I figure the money I save in the birds that aren't killed because I see what's out there and take extra precautions...well it pays for itself many times over.

Well, soon, we hope you can add ALL of our names to the Delaware Breeders!

Go ahead and start with Germaine!
