Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

It was in the low 60s here this morning, and now in the afternoon the high is probably about 76. Summer gloom has officially hit the Bay Area. The fog rolls in towards the evening and it gets chilly at night!

Beth , I did complain oh, I wish I had not. But the run was stinky. I have worked some on it since then. Lets hope the air conditioners stay working. This weather would be brutal to anyone without it. I know some that do not have any. I wonder how they even breath. Take care everyone. Gloria Jean

PS Jeremy it was 59 here this morning. Our mtn weather is a bit fickle sometimes.

He flogged me the other day while on the phone with Ladyhawk. Then came after me again. He slipped as he jumped or I'd have more than a scratch and a bruise on my leg. That was the end for Dutch here at the Chicken Asylum.

As far as my well is concerned, a new pump, tank and switch needed. Probably be around $1200. DH is making a deal with him to take his big 1994 Silverado truck as payment, hopefully plus some cash. We'll be down to one vehicle. Sigh. Was thinking about selling the truck anyway, but wont have enough to even buy a tiny gas saver car and insure it. Oh, well, go with the flow, right? No pun intended. He'll be back tomorrow to install the new stuff. I need a shower badly and I doubt we can get more than a trickle. hit

Oh Cyn, I am so sorry to hear that. When it rains it pours.

You can just load up Suede, Ike, Ivy, Tux, Livvie, Ginger, Tiny and Gypsy and come up here for a few days.

Cyn, I am SO sorry- I wish it were otherwise- at least you have something to deal/trade with.

The Dels are taking the heat OK, the little Orp girls are panting, but no one is showing any sluggish symptoms. (

Desiree!) I am going to Walmart after church rehearsal to see if I can find something to use as a wading pool for them- not a regular kids pool, as anything that big and colorful will merely cause those drama queens to drop over in fright-

Beth, I used those plastic totes that you slide under a bed. They are not too deep and I just filled it halfway and put a couple bricks inside for them to climb in and out of.

Poor Thor stood for about an hour today in the duckie pool. I am going to get them a small window AC this weekend and put in the coop. I refuse to let them suffer or possibly die in this heat. I just cannot do that so AC in the coop it is.

Well, it appears you all have the heat wave that I had last week! Rest assured ..... it is now pouring down rain, so I am sure you will have this next week. Why can't it just be 78* every day (without rain)? We have rain in the forcast for the next 3 days, too.

Sorry to hear about your well, Cyn. We replaced ours (in Iowa) twice .... struck by lightning both times. Thankfully, our insurance paid for most of those bills. Here in Missouri there is so much sulfer in the water it is hard on hot water heaters. Just replaced one in the guest house a couple months ago. Now, 2 days ago, we had the one in the main house go out. Always something it seems.

We went to Silver Dollar City (Branson, MO) today with the 3 grandsons. It rained (poured) off and on all day. It was not near as much fun as we had hoped. $240. for the 5 of us to get in. We left after 3 hours.

To top off the day, DH missed a turn, and we drove all over the country side (in thunderstorms) to get home! Grrrrrrr ! ! ! Never again, I say! When grandkids visit ...... stay home!

DH and boys are all showered and tucked in bed now (THANK GOD!) ...... Tomorrow is a new day (and one of the boys' birthday! Oh joy!) ..... Man, I am getting old, toooooo old .....

Hi Everyone- I have pictures for you! I finally got to address my dellie roosters. I have 3 up for consideration. All 3 of these roos are 4 mths old. I do also have another batch of 3 mth old roos. So if none of these look worthy of being a good Delaware breeding roo, please let me know. Please pick them apart. I don't want anyone to hold anything back. I want to start my breeding program with the best I have. The 3 roos have different colored leg bands, 1 blue, 1 hot pink and 1 orange. Please let me know what you think, I really appreciate it.
