Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Awwww, Cetawin! What cute girls you have!! Lol, and no, I'm no the bi bad wolf. They really are cute though.

Cynthia, that pocket pooper is just precious, and your flock is always something to blind the eye. They are very beautiful.

Good to hear the chicks are doing great Joletabey, and what a coincidence JamesA, I had a hawk get into my brooder this morning. Flew right into the barn, lifted the lid and slipped in. Thankfully I was there. I grabbed it, stuffed in a pet carrier and called the Game Warden. Pesky sucker. I hope your remaining babies make it! Luckily none of mine were hirt too bad. One of the little Cockerels has a small tear on his chest, but its not too serious.

Sorry I've been MIA for a few days. I've got Celiac Disease (That means I can eat no Wheat, Rye or Barley or it has uh... disastrous consequences...) and a restaurant who shall remain nameless (Chili's) changed their Gluten free menu. However, my local restaurant that shall remain nameless (Chili's) forgot to remove all the OLD gluten free menu's and the takeout waitress my inlaws used refered to this menu when helping them. This means I was poisoned. So since last monday night I've been sick as a dog.

On the up side after 3 days of antibiotics Emily has rejoined her flock and seems to be OK other than showing signs she is sore as heck. Still not a single egg since Ida rolled through although we have managed to clean all the muck out of the coop and all nest boxes and put in fresh straw. It will take time I suppose.

I put off cleaning out my new coops yesterday to work on the new fenceline, and then today to go get my H1N1 shot. My poor chickens are suffering. However, they are now off the trailer and ready to be cleaned and painted! We can go for the last one on Thursday I think. New houseguests coming in town for the weekend. Maybe I can convert them to BYC chicken keepers....bwahahaha....

Emily taken before the attack.

BTW everybody, I am loving this thread.......

Mhmm, latch in place as we speak. With a lock. Too bad I dont have a video camera... man would we make money or what? Imagine videos of the craziest stuff that happens around chickens, oh man...

Laney, I hope you get to feeling better!! I hate being sick or having problems, just ruins my life at that time. Emily looks great in her photo, a regular model

The goats were just outside making a huge ruckus. We think it's time to double up their hay. Grass is starting to really brown up. So while we were giving them a late night snack, we checked on all our feathered babies. Emily was sitting on the edge of one of the nestboxes. Looked like she'd been there a while (the evidence was below her). She was finally layng down for the first time since the attack. Her Biden (roo) and sister Helen were on top of the nestbox above her. So I think she's going to be Ok. Of course the Broody sisters had taken up the nestbox next door. I don't know what I'm going to do about those two.

I've given them golf balls, a real egg (they hatched it), dunked them in water, thrown them out of the nestbox repeatedly...nothing works to break the broody. Once I have my coops done I'll isolate them.... Goodness knows when because my husband keeps coming up with things to do that don't have anything to do with my coops...

Of course he did come up with a power-washer

Yea, I like the blue, too! Aahhh, what we have to do, to keep this a happy place (for rustyswoman and all)! LOL

Delawaregirl, hope all is safe and happy at your place! I agree about the videos! (Better than live TV!)
Cetawin, love the pictures! JamesA ... Oh yes, please do post your pictures! Beth, how many pictures do have so far? LOL I think I need a new memory card (or whatever the devil you call it??) for my camera. Do keep us updated! Laney, you'll just have to do like I do ... go out and build it yourself! I love power tools! heehee Almost as much fun as the longarm quilting machine! Cyn, I sure hope to hear good news on Pocketpooper. You watch, he'll end up being Isaac's replacement one day .... then you can embarrass him with these stories! LOL

Wow- Laney, I am never eating at the restaurant that is not to be mentioned called Chili's again in my life. I hope you spoke sharply (ahem) to the management?????? Get better!!! Yay for Emily!!! I also think you will have fun with that power washer- saves LOTS of time and back ache!!!

So- tricksy hawks are the norm. I may have to double the netting over the run!!!!

McSpin, that is a BIG boy- the del Roo's are so majestic looking aren't they?

Cetawin, your pics are great and my Dellie babies already have those same looks and behaviors- I love it!!!!! They are just SO sure they are the best birds in the world and the world is just waiting to hand them everything they want.

Update on Superchick- he is breathing a lot faster than everyone else, but is still eating and drinking and hopping around normally. We'll just have to see. I do have some pics, but want to get some without the red light. There are only three or four that are not showing lots of wing feather- must be the last hatched. They are also the quietest of the babies. Baby Blue is a hoot. So far most of them like their little chests stroked and most will all try to get on my hand at once. I am going to expand the brooder this weekend and include a few small things to hop on- not too high, just something for these little active minds to think about!!!!
