Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

I'm butting into this thread only because I was following along and read about people trying to prop boards up, balance on their heads, etc.....

These are the best inventions ever.

Clamp one end of the board in place, swing the other end up and clamp it....get it levelled out with some light taps.....then, while still clamped, drill the screws in to hold it in place. Best invention. Ever.

Nellabean- I love you forever! I am your best friend! You are awesome and wonderful! Now what is this thing called????

:lau Just an Irwin quickgrip?

Seriously. I am going to buy one for DH for his birthday. He will never know the real reason!

And please butt in more often. Everyone is welcome here, since Dellies are going to take over the world anyhow!

Hey. . . . Cetawin, what does a duck coop need to look like?

Yep. Irwin Quick Grip. Quick Release Clamp? They have different brands....Home Depot has a package that comes with 2 small, 2 medium plus a couple other kinds of clamps and it is only like $20 or $25. I have like 6 or 8 of these things. It is a second set of hands....only way to build alone. Before I had them, I once propped a board up on my foot and held my leg up to the side perpendicular to the ground, like a fricking ballet dancer......a clamp would have been so much easier, LOL.

I don't have ANY Dellies. About 110 birds, but no dellies. The world may soon come to an end....

Ducks? Did someone say ducks....8 runner girls for sale here! How far is NC from TN again? LOL

Oh dear, I do wish I would have known about these clamp thingies earlier. BUT- better late than never!!!

You not only have ducks, you have D'uccles and silver laced cochins? I only wish. . . . . The first purchase is the clamps, then I need to save money for more materials for more coops! (Kathy, where are you? Stop me!)

Well ducks only need floor space and a nest....height about 3'....3 sq ft floor space per duck is good and comfy. So easy

They do well with a dog house or dog igloo in a protective enclosure.

Oh good grief! I have them too! I use them almost on a daily basis and I didn't think to mention them either. Maybe that's what comes of having just too darn many tools......uuummm...wait a second...is that even possible? Ummmm....just checked with DH and he said not only NO, but HECK NO!! Just no such thing as too many tools!!

uh, well, I suppose I could really use a pen for the layers, the girls I don't want to use in breeding. And I do want ducks so very, very much. Uh, and then, uh, I need another quarantine place because Harriet and chicks are going out tomorrow, I hope, into the one I have and, and, and, arrrrghhh!!!

Did I mention I have 2 broody ducks both sitting on eggs? There are at least 4 eggs under one and at least 5 eggs under the other. ahem I'm just saying. These are my ducks just in case you might be interested, Ancona and Golden Welsh Harlequins:

O poo. I am done for. They are beautiful-especially those cool Harlequins, but Dh will kill me. He wants me to wait till next spring for anything else except a replacement Orp or two or three and a new Del roo. I gotta think about this.

Can I ask a broody question here since it is about Harriet, who has hatched a Delaware chick and no one in the section I posted has answered me - I cannot tell that Harriet is eating. There has only been one adult poo since before the chicks hatched - is this normal? Do I need to get her outside on grass with the chickies ASAP since she is used to free ranging? When I put egg or mashed up skinless blueberry down, she lightly pecks and encourages the chicks, but watches them eat. I never see her eat anything.
