A wonderful hen , hope yo guys keep working on this fanastic american breed. They remain on the critical list and dropping...I hatched out some for the vindikes this last spring using a outstanding australorps mom.,due to his heavy work schedule he was so afraid that his temps would spike or something would go wrong with one of the bators that he gave me his best eggs to stick under this hen..shes just so dependable you can rest easy when shes at work..
Shes just an older australorp egg layer that I kept because she had such a great aptitude for baby care, shes no show hen and her barred rock ancesry shined thruogh..but he got his bee bees, the indian rivers tend to go infertile a bit younger so he was trying to get as many as he could out of his older rooster..
I was kind of sad to see them go when it was time..Hes offered to give me some but I have australorps coming from every corner of the US right now and cant but told him I'll always keep that hen around , she drops everything to sit on an egg..I told me just call me and we can hatch out almost any time with her..she sure loves her role.she had her very own enclosed house and run, she actually took them outside to potty then right back in.. I swear she can tell when eggs are fertile..
Rick said whe he gets them to the level he wants then he will start selling hatch eggs but hes a fussy man and fussy is good..he is almost a perfectionist.hopefully near future he will be offering some..
