I know that Delawares are moderately fast growers... What has been everyone's experience with the whole "from chick to egg-shooter" timeframe averages?... My chicks are almost TWO WHOLE WEEKS OLD; and still no signs of squatting!

Well, here I am at Ohio, cash in hand, and not too happy. There are exactly four cages tagged for Delawares, and three breeders in the exhibitor's listing. Nothing in the sales area yet., but we are gonig to go back every few hours to check and see what is coming in. My husband is hungrily eyeing the Jersey Giants, and I am falling in love with Quail D'Anvers, so who knows what we might bring home?

Cyn, did you get any more babies to hatch?

You guys all need to see Cetawin's place- its' fantastic! She is fantastic, her DH is a doll, and I want to adopt Cheyenne! My DH wants to adopt Casca.

Two eggs still in bator. One of them is definitely alive, but not sure how close to hatching it is--looks like it may be in the aircell, but I'm not sure. It's right at it, if not in it. The other one is probably already gone. I need one, just one, please, please, please! The little mind control expert is doing well by herself, but on occasion wants someone's hand to crawl into and sleep. I'd have already removed them and turned off the bator if I was certain that incubation had started and gone well all the way through, but with Emily being on and off so much the first day and letting them slip out from under her on occasion, these could be a day or two behind the first baby.

From the reading I've done: the Jersey Giants are more of a novelty breed due to their very slow growth and poor feed to weight ratio. The only way to be successful (profitable) is via full time free ranging on big acreage: so I've read... If this is viable for you; go for it!
