Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

My apologies for using Ameraucanas as an example of "great foragers". I don't own any of those either, but was under the impression they were.

I got a really neat Del egg from one of my girls today, it was a typical peachy brown but had smaller purple/brown specks all over it, sorta like you would expect from a Welsummer.

I put it in the incubator, it won't be a pure Delaware as my flock sire is a BW Ameraucana, but I'm hoping for a cute Dellie cross EE!

That spammer thing is hilarious, lol.

The only problem I've had with any chickens with predators, would be my Blue Heeler. If she could, Dingo would kill all of them, revive them, and do it again over and over just to make me mad and give herself some amusement. She amazes me sometimes because she KNOWS the chickens are a no-no toy.

Jeremy, I bet the baby will be sure purty

Jeremy, Amy loves her Delaweggers, hope yours is a cutie, too.

My Dels seem to like to forage inside their run, they dig holes and pits constantly.

Tasha is getting a hint of hackle color, but as you all know, they change in major ways as they get up into the teens. Her wing smut is clearing out lots already and she is getting some tail black earlier than many of the ones I've had here.
She is almost 8 weeks old now, daughter of Isaac and Ellie. Her legs are not as yellow as I'd like to see, but even those can change a bit as they get older, I've noticed. And seems pullets don't always have legs quite as yellow as the males. Tasha has that nice chunky body we like to see, even now.

Cynthia; is that 2"sq fabric? Does it serve to keep newborn, day-old, chicks contained?

You mean the fence in the background? That is 2 x 4" welded wire and Tasha is actually standing outside the main pen in the picture-it definitely wouldn't contain chicks without something backing it. The pen next door to the main one has that 1" plastic green garden fencing wrapping the welded wire to contain small chicks and that is where Tasha is living with her broody mama and three D'Uccle coop mates. She was outside running around with Nugget when the pic was taken, looking at her daddy Isaac in the big pen.

Are your Dellies really LOUD?? Mine is so loud, it's annoying, actually. I'm shocked that none of my neighbors have called in a complaint yet! She's actually the worst when she sees that I am home and I haven't let her out to free range. She just stands at the door of the run and SCREAMS.
