I wonder if it would be worth doing a large Del chick order from Privett and growing them out to see if they produce halfway decent birds most of the time? If only I had the room!

just curious does anyone have any Delawares from Whitmore farms? if so what are your opinion on them?

i believe i read in Backyard Poultry magazine that they got their stock from a hatchery and culled heavy.and they have pretty good Dels. any info would be appreciated.

Ok, here's some updated pictures of the birds I got from Kathy! They sure are adventurous lil stinkers! Even have one who waits for me in the carport so he can stalk me and jump on my lap for snuggles

My Dels came from Privett. Started with 10, including 4 pullets and 6 cockerels. Two of the cockerels were pure white; oddly, those grew the fastest (and went into the freezer first!). Two others were poorly-marked. Rexx is the best, but there was another almost as nicely marked. Of the pullets, two are pure white but chunky, one is rather poorly marked, and one looks like classic Del. I bet if you started with a couple dozen, you could end up with the foundation for a good strain.

X2 - Wow, those are some good-looking young 'uns!
