Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Oh gosh, I just got home, opened the post, started reading about "how many chickens..." "they will come"

I started doing mental math and the DH walks in. I had guilt written all over my face and he was like "what?"

THEY DO COME! No more of that stuff you guys! He'll ground me from the incubators

All the pictures are wonderful. Cetawin how did you keep them from pooping all over the Christmas tree?

I do not count...I always have the same answer I have 30 something

Ah I threatened them with no more cooked oatmeal, scrambled eggs, grapes and etc for one month. So, they behaved themselves

Honestly, I have yet to have one of these 8 babies have an accident...not even DD has got the poo from them. So

Laney,
Bidens' tail has barring and is nice and dark - I am going by the colored pic in the SOP - so it looks good to me!

Kathy- here is my guess- 2,5,9,14 are roos, 7 is Tootsie, 10 is Midge?????

I feel so much better knowing you all are WAY ahead of me in the chicken count - I was starting to feel guilty having more than my coop can hold and trying to figure out a way to make another one so I can let Ultrasuede have some BBS friends!!!

Cetawin, let Fattie and Cannonball be house pets if they are that well behaved!

Laney, Biden has 6-7 points, I think. The blurry pic of his comb is what I'm judging by, but can't tell well enough at the front part. All the small front points count. Are his tail feathers all barred or solid black, can't tell. Isaac's tail is heavy on the dark but they are all barred, just faintly on some.

Kathy, I can't tell sex on some of those since I can't see their backs well. #8 and #10 could go either way. Is #6 Midge? I think I see five or six girls in that bunch, but it's really not easy to tell at their age on some.

Midge is # 10. Tootsie is # 7. See how # 6 and # 7 look short and stocky? They are very plump and broad, and short legged. Personally, I love that look. #2 roo is gonna be alpha I think .. he is always the one to appear to be on lookout, already. He also loves to have his chest rubbed when I pet on them. He'll just stand there and look all relaxed.

I took Tootsie's shoe off now, and his toe is straight again. I'll see if it lasts.

*off to move them all outside*

Ok, time for me to go get moving. Heading out to give my babies there second feed of the day. I like to keep the food streaming in this cold weather. DH called from the goat barn to tell me they had knocked over their feeder in protest of it being empty. I'm working on designing a pvc feeder that the goats can't get into.

Then I'm off to visit my Sithy, an Elderly neighbor of mine. Sithy is arabic for Grandmother. She is the sweetest thing on earth. But if I don't get my but up there she just might make me unable to sit down. (I think it's really spelled Sitte or something btw)

So I'm out to beard the cold.......

Not once have I ever said those two were well behaved in the slightest. They just have not dropped poo on us yet but they are both bad bad girls.

With three horses, two dogs, 7 cats and 17 chicks at our house- well, anyone that doesn't poo on you is considered well behaved.

Cetawin ...
How do you do it? Threats? Is that all it takes? My Dellies have contests on who can poo the most, everytime I take them out for photos!

Well, the move is done. What a day! Had to move all the Marans out of the boat barn and into the layer coop (because they should be laying in a month). I put the Jersey Giants in there, too. They are only 2 weeks younger. Ohhh, the trauma! Naw, really they seem to be doing ok, so far.

The boys are now in the bachelor's pad... and very unhappy. They are tryin' to fly over the fence, and are callin' the girls like crazy.

The Halloween Hatch babies (includes Dellies) are all tucked in their new home, in the boat barn. I have 3 lights in there. Of course, the adventurous Dellies could care less. They are all over the place. My DH said today, "Ya know, I really like these Delawares!" He packed them up for the move. He is ever so gentle, and talks to them like babies! He said they weren't hard to catch, because they come right up to ya! We both like how they are just the friendliest and most curious of all the chicks.

Oh, now to rest! I'm so glad all the moving is done. Most of all, I'm glad to be able to clean out the attached garage (and prepare for the next hatch!) .... Christmas Hatch is next! I have BCMarans due Dec 20, Dellies and friends Dec 24, and White Faced Black Spanish Dec 26. YAY Christmas ! !
