Hi Cynthia, I bet after you re introduce him they won't do it. I had my Light Sussex Roo get picked by his girls too. I think they were just grooming but I wasn't taking any chances either and got him out of there until he had healed and there was no blood whatsoever.

I did put him back in there and there hasn't been any picking since and that has been months.

To tell them Isaac is off limits . . . maybe if Gracie, Kira and gang heard it from some other hens, they would listen. Something to the effect that if they LIKE where they live, they had better behave. Cyn could sell them to someone very fond of chicken soup.

I threw them some corn to distract them and took the boys out, only Heffner scared the dickens out of me. He got out of the tractor pen he was in... somehow, and my little blue heeler was out and I couldnt find him! But I found him... In the live animal trap asleep

Poor Gracie is running the gauntlet now. Had to remove her to check her comb, which was bleeding from a scratch the older girls caused. Threw hunks of banana in there, hoping to entertain them a bit, and put Riley in so Gracie would calm down. It's hard being at the bottom of the pecking order!

On the other hand, Isaac is happy, though he looks puzzled that his main girls are in a separate pen. My little poufy-headed Olivia is also happy--she loves to pluck saddle feathers from her men. She did it to Hawkeye, she did it to Dutch, and she's doing it to Ike, LOL. As long as no one makes him bleed, he'll heal up fast.

Cyn, you just have to talk to Ike and let him know that you could not allow those comb eating wenches to keep hurting him so you are giving him a larger harem of nice girls! Then rub his chest and he will be fine!


Fattie inherited that pitbull attack from her mom...oh at the chats she and I have had. I have held her beak, talked to her, scolded her and finally my boy Thor took care of it.
