Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Bahahahaha! These thread hijackers are great! Which means its okay, lol. I've seen a few pictures of Suede, he is a beauty! But I havent ever seen Zane or Dutch, and OF COURSE i've seen Ike. He is a wonder, and its good to hear that he is doing better. You know, Cynthia, if he is in with some RIR Girls, you should try out some sex-links... just a thought

Lol.

Yeah, Heff-O picked a wonderful spot to rest. He really gave me a heart-attack there. Geez. Okay, so... I think my Delawares are recieving weak signals from you guys... My little ones started climbing up my arm when I stick it in there, liked to scare me to death the first time, I thought something was wrong! Lol.

About Suede ... well, are you saying just because he looks different ..... he can't be accepted here? Huh, is that what you think? Well, goodness knows, we Dellie caretakers accept them all .... Even the adopted big blue type Dellies! So, Suede can partake of the Delaware thread .... as an adopted addition!

Oh yeah .... I got the book in the mail today...
The APA Standard of Perfection 2001. I did splurge and get the colored edition. Frankly, I am disappointed in that aspect. Not even a single picture of a real bird. All there is shown in color is artwork! Shocked, and disgusted! Pay a fortune for artwork, when I wanted a resource book? ..... Hhmmmm ..... not happy!

In a small box at the bottom of page 1 (under the colored picture of the artist) it says,
" The color pictures in the Standard of Perfection are the artist's interpretation of the written description for each breed and variety pertrayed. Their purpose is to give a general idea of each bird. DO NOT take these portraits as examples of the perfect specimen. The written text is the description of the ideal bird."

Well, now that I have the book, I am quite sure that the new one will be out very soon! LOL I know I won't be buying a colored version again!

So,really, the only person I have to beat out in the "who is closer to Suede" race is Yard Full of IT? Oops, I mean, Rocks? You all have heard that Greek Fable about the really fast girl runner and some guy having a race and she threw a pan of lasagna in front of him and when he stopped to pick it up, she beat him to the Rooster? Suedebaby- here comes your own personal Atalanta!

Delgirl- the signals will get stronger with time and practice.. . . . . BEWARE. It's only fair to warn you, as Cetawin warned me!

Actually, I think Cynthia has the best idea - PARTY ON!!!!! I'll bring TWO pans!

Man, if I werent half way across the country from you guys... Lol. Mmmm, lasagna! Jeez. Delawares, Orphingtons (HAHA!) and Road Trips. What a thread! Were catching up with the Marans thread everyone! I'm getting worried about Heff and Oreos combs. They are so big! And it is so cold!

And Joletabey, thanks for the warning! Now I know what to expect!

Actually, I think Cetawin coined the Yard Full of It nickname - see to what depths Suede can push a decent woman? Scott, it wouldn't be used if we weren't sure you were a good guy who can take a joke!

The Delaware Family Reunion. . .YES!!!!

Can you call it a reunion if we haven't met yet?

Dela, you know they make chicken diapers.... I wonder if you could manage some type of hat for Hef and Oreo?

Can anyone picture a rooster with a little cap tied under his beak?

It's Ok to get side tracked once in a while. Suede really is a beauty.

I'm looking at getting a copy of the SOP too, I'm glad to know that the color is a waste of time. I'm a very visual person, but drawings instead of photo's, I wonder why they did that. Could they find no photo's of near perfect or perfect birds?

The artists' rendering, B&W or color, is what gets me about the SOP. Seems they should search the world for examples of the perfect whatever-breed, right?

Zane is the rooster in my avatar, but here is a pic of him being Uncle Zane to Shadow's babies. The little BR pullet with Shadow is really his niece, Fern (oops! Fern isn't in the picture, just her Suedelette "siblings"):

Here is Dutch, Zane's younger brother:

Dutch is pretty, but despite all he has been through, Zane is gorgeous. That comb is amazing. Now aren't you supposed to be asleep?

I know I have a messed up sleep cycle, but your usually in bed by now, and twice this week you've been up late like this.
