Vertically challenged I am (Cyn can vouch for me).....I'm 5'9" on my best day.

My 14 year old son is just about to out grow me. He already wears a size 12 1/2 shoe....I struggle to wear 8's....oh well.

Vertically challenged and Dels do seem to be a common theme here....

My hubby is 5'9 and I always thought he was the tall one in our house. You have given me something to think about.​

joletabey - Thor feathered slower than the Dellies and the EEs...he was literally the last of them to get his feathers. he was still fuzzy whe both of the Dellies were feathered out already! LOL


Yard Full - my DH was a bit over 5' 9" but after jumping out of airplanes with 100 or so lbs attached to him (and several parachute failures) he is a hair under 5' 8" now. Something about slamming into the ground feet first at high speeds shortens you.

My baby (my firstborn) is 6' 4". LOL He scoops me up and holds me like a baby and says "Hi Mommy!" I know about being outgrown by your kid. hahahaha

popcormpuppy, I see you have Goldens. They are MY favorites and we presently have a "red" Golden named Katie. She is such a sweetheart....she has NO IDEA that she's a dog.

Have you been able to allow your dogs out with the chickens in the yard? My Katie really has that "bird dog instinct" and I can't seem to break her from chasing them around the place. She's only caught one, one time, and just got a mouthful of feathers, but that was enough. There was no controlling her when she was "on the chase".....any suggestions? She HATES it when the chickens are out and therefore she can't be, she just whines and whines. BUT, I don't need dead chickens...so she stays locked up for now

I saw a video on YouTube of a, "trainer," who came to a family's home and broke a dog of the instinct to hunt chicken! I believe the breed was the same as yours also. I will see if I can find it. It was quite interesting, ans seemed quite simple, as well. Later, the family was interviewed, and they said the dog never again went for the chickens!​

Of my 6, only 1 is a real problem. Scooter has the bird dog instinct and therefor is not permitted around the chickens. Popcorn is a lumbering giant and needs to be watched around the chickens because he is clumbsey and will trample them, but he won't try to eat them. Then I have 2 females that have been bread in years past. They have such strong maternal instinct that they want to mother anything smaller than they are. One of my Golden girls gards the brooder from our cats.
Has Katie been trained to hunt with you? If so, then she may never get along with the chickens. Some dog breeds have multiple lines. Lines for show and lines for their "job". My guys are from show lines, not hunting lines. If Katie doesn't hunt with you and does well with obedience, than you may be able to work with her and the chickens. Just a leash and some commands to teach her bounderies (and that the chickens are out of bounds) may be enough. It all depends on her breeding, personality and willingness to obey.​

Ladies, it seems several of you are Military wives and I have done my fair share of joking with you lately, BUT....in all seriousness

FIRST, please say a big thank you to your husbands (from me and my family) for keeping me and my family SAFE and in the LAND OF THE FREE. It aint perfect, but there's no place else I would chose to be.

Secondly, and certainly of equal importance. THANK YOU!! For taking care of the families while your DHs were gone, for living on limited incomes, multiple moves, uprooting children from family and foundations, and for all the many sacrifices YOU personally had to make in order to be a Military wife. My hat's off to you!!

oh wow did I miss out...

I don't know about looking like the Dels, after all they are big birds really....maybe we are just a bunch of sweet hearts like them, note I said maybe but anyways I'm 5'1 95lbs, my brother Jarrett is 6'1 but other then that he could be my twin.

Hey Kathy you have 5 kids right? 4 boys and a girl? I think it was your sig that used to have that. any ways I'm the oldest, and the only girl of 5.

Cetawin - My brother just younger then me does the whole "Mommy" thing too.

My Dad was in the Navy befor I was born, his brother was in the Marines, and I have other family in the Air Force.

My dog would love to get a hold oh my birds, and a lot of other little critters. He is a stock dog, and has a very high pray drive. but I can have with me around anything beacous I have a handle on him, when that "look" cross his face, I tell him down and he stays that way. no way would I trust him unless I was right by him. but that works for us.

Back to the Delies, no pics uploaded yet, but it nice today so I'm going to take some more. my guys, and girls are talkers too. I love those happy sounds. Tonka will hope up on the brooder with me. Tank {oh how the name fits him} was eye balling me last night when I made the girls fuss, guess he thinks maybe he likes them more then food now. lol he does like to eat.

Okay, I'm doing 2 birds with one stone . Pics of my Dels and my "bird dog", Buttercup. She wants to mother them all.

I often kid about who has the better breeding, the dog or the Dels.

That is one beautiful dog, 'Puppy - I love goldens. And those Dels are showing some really nice tail feathers in there, from what I can see. I know you posted this before, but how old are they?
