Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Yes, both eyes...like little slits. Once she started to lay her comb got redder & her wattles. But the facial area around her eyes remains a pale pink in addition to the eye thing. I've never seen a bird with eyes like hers. It doesn't seem to bother her though. She was close to 6 weeks later than the other pullets to start laying too. She is laying 5 eggs/week. They're still pullet sized compared to the others', easy to identify.

Yep, weird.

And I almost forgot....

Laney, please give details on the Feb show in Smithfield. My MIL lives near there in Clayton. Maybe I'll visit her and hit the show at the same time. I may be shopping more for Ameraucanas than Delawares....BUT who knows....

You can find the info on the Smithfield show here:

Not sure if I'm entering any birds there, but I plan to go anyway. I really want to check out the other birds and if the right bird were there...

This year I'm really only interested in Delawares and Mottled Java's. However I really love Silver Phoenix, and I could fall in love with a Cochin really easily for the right price.

Thanks for the compliments on Oreo!

Somehow, he has blood on his back and white tail pieces. I'm thinking he and dad met through the fence, but you never know.

Kim, when I saw that first pic of Achillies, I almost had a heartattack! He looks almost exactly like Heffner at a certain point (kind of)! I was like "Holy-Smokes!" Scared the dickens out of me. See the way his tail looks? Heffs is just like that. The difference in the two, obviously, is age. And Heff is a little darker, his comb is a little different, and his beak is a little shorter, which I have found out passes on. But it scared me. Honest.

Actually, the more I look at it, maybe i'm crazy... I also have a hen like yours with the slitty eyes. Shes always kinda been liked that, and she was kind of a ... meanie. So, I named her Elanore.

Question for you Del folks! I hope to get a pair of batam Salmon Faverolles and was thinking of getting a pair of LF as well. I know Favs are prone to being bullied-do you think the Dels would be too hard on them?

It would depend on your birds, rabbithaus. All birds will set their pecking order. Do your Delawares pick on other birds a lot? I'd say that they would be like any other bird, but you never know. Maybe someone else will come and give a better opinion

Cheyenne
did great...she made one mistake but recovered and finished....she got a loud whooping and standing ovation by the parents and teachers because she kept playing and finished....rather than giving up when she made a mistake.

Standing O for Cheyenne!!!!!! That was extremely professional behavior!!!!

Kim, that third hen is nice and round and looks like she has some good tail feathers.
