Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Beth, No I don't think they are molting. I'm with you .... really itching!

I have decided, I am not making any decisions, until they are 6 months old. One reason for that is ... my favorite, "Mr. Funky Feathers," will have a chance to make a change!

The girls ... I'm gonna try to get a better picture of them, and their tails! I have not examined them very closely. When I go out there, the boys come a runnin', and the girls kinda hang back and allow the guys to get all the attention!

Of all in that hatch (40ish Dels, Lavender Orps, JGiants, SPPRocks, OliveEggers), the Delawares are still the only ones that come way out of the enclosure ... They go the full distance of the building (33 feet), and come to the door, nearing the outside. Now, that surprises me. They have all lived in there for awhile now. I would think they would all be coming out more!

Kathy- except for Buckshot, it's the other way around for me - the girls are right under my nose, although after I was clumsy with Cora yesterday, that may change- she got ants in her pants about getting back in the brooder while I was holding her, tried to flap out of my arms while I was lowering her back in, and she landed a little hard- I got the stink eye, and she went to the other end of the brooder to pout with Ultrasuede and the one Del roo I have that is not really interested in me. I wish I could wait 6 months, but I am afraid the coop will be too small for them- even with a huge run. Its only 4 x 8, and with winter weather still ahead, I am afraid there will be fighting. I will hold on to them all as long as I can- Buckshot is still in the top three roo choices at this point, though, which makes it easier. I hope Mr. Funky Feathers turns out to be your #1 boy!

Laney, incubating is way beyond me, so all I can say is I am sorry, again, about SC2. I wonder what it could be about Dels that there is this tendency?

Laney, I am so sorry about your little SC2, that is so very sad when something like that happens.
Look at Sawsall--what a sweetie! I am so glad you have a Del.

LadyHawk, I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you on the house. Wonderful home and look at the property! That is going to be perfect. BTW-- I got your moacassins yesterday and they are absolutely beautiful. You are very very talented. I don't think the womans are going to fit me though, and I will have to find someone who will be able to appreciate them before I give them away (or I may just keep them and showcase them--but it seems wrong to not use something so beautiful). I hoped they would fit but I am a 7 1/2 to an 8 depending on what shoe. So I just got to stroke them... now the baby mocassins are so darn cute and my Grandson is going to look so great in them.

Kathy, you were busy yesterday taking pics! Your Dels are very nice and I wouldn't cull any either. They are going to be tricky to pick the best one because they are all nice. -----tell me when your Buckeye eggs come.

Opening now. Will set them tonight ... in about 8 hours.

Wish I could get to you, but I cannot add Dels until I get my Winter Quarters issue straightened out.

It isn't a matter of not wanting them....just fairness to the birds that would sticking around through our often obscene winters.

No, no Delawares, not even any Del crosses. I'm wanting to add to my Rocks since my girls except for Fern are getting up there in age, so there are 13 BRs (9 of my own and 4 from a show quality type flock) and 12 BBS Rocks, then there are the 6 BBS Orps for Beth, 2 Wheaten/blue Wheaten Ameraucanas, 8 BBS Ameraucanas and 2 Black Plymouth Rock/Wheaten Marans crosses. And there is one too many eggs for the turner.
