Boy, wouldn't it be nice if it WAS true- make life easier! Thanks for the info on the walnut comb, Cynthia, it was hard to tell by that illustration, and I don't think I have seen a picture on BYC of anything with a strawberry comb- not that there isn't one, I just haven't seen it yet!!

It just amazes me at how easily Cyn has conquered the country on behalf of the Delaware. Now everyone just has to have one or two.

My work is done. Well, almost. I have two more folks to get eggs to then I am taking the pressure off myself, putting Ike in, taking Ike out so he doesn't completely lose his comb to those witches. It's frustrating and lots of extra work!

On the bright side, I got five eggs from the six Delawares today! For a long time, three of them have been carrying the load. Not sure what was up with Maxie and Phoebe, but one of them definitely laid an egg today. Kira's molt has taken a lot out of her but she laid one today, too.

Choice Roo#1 with the 5 pt. comb MAY convince me that I can eat one of my own Delawares. I thought we had the biting thing solved, but he got me TWICE today. I need lavender bubble bath, quick!!!!!

He doesn't have a mean look, just sort of "assessing the situation". But he bites out of the blue- guess I need to wear gloves. *sigh* I really hope I can get him over this. He is looking SO good, and is my DH's favorite also. BUT . . . . . .

He is a goner if he doesn't shape up!

Just put up the candling results from my eggs

Had a minor emergency with the brooder lamp plug coming undone outside today. Will get the electrical tape on that plug done much better before my little babies get out there. Otherwise it was a great day for chickens! 5 eggs...whoohoo!

So, I candled tonight. I saw movement. There are 26 eggs total. 19 of them are Dellies, & I didn't candle all of them. So lets hope for a good amount. I at least see a couple real strong and vigorious movers. I can't wait. March 6th is hatch date.
