Well, you tell those wenches that I have a vested interest in their behavior now and UNLIKE you I will stew em if they mess with Ike any more. So HA! Tell Ike I will come visit with goodies...right after I give Suede his goodies...my loyalty must stay with the Suedenator above all others so Ike will have to understand.

I got my first pip from this clutch! It is one of Fern's... next 24 hours will be fun! I got eggs chirping and now I can see Fern Jr's beak! I love this part!

Just wanted to share!

That's great, Stacy! Hope to hear about a bunch more pips by this afternoon.

I mixed up a concoction of bag balm, vetRx, and the anti-lick bitter stuff and coated Ike's comb and wattles. Well, they think I put gravy on him! So, he's back in the broody pen again after maybe mating one hen. Jeremy, I hope those eggs stay fertile till I can get yours to you!

ACK! Those women need to be restrained!

Have they just decided that they like wattle lettuce and tomato sandwhiches or something? L0L weird...

Yes, hopefully fertility stays constant. Have you had to resort to AI yet Cyn? Poor Ike, you know he's got to be thinking, "What did I do to deserve this??".

Have you considered using some sort of chili powder/sauce to deter them? I don't know if it would hurt Ike, I imagine it would if he's still got any open wounds, so you woundn't want to apply it if so. My hens can't stand hot stuff though. Last summer they decided they wanted to nip at some habaneros when they escaped the run one day... now they know to stay away from the little colorful peppers! Poor things, I felt so bad.

Cyn what about those peeper things...that stop them from picking feathers and such that look like little sunglasses?

These made by Kuhl I think can be purchased for $17.00 per 100 then buy the pins of your choice. They also make a pinless version.

Hm, that does sound like it would be tough. Not only would he be thinking "What did I do to deserve this?" but also, "What are you doing to me now!?!?".

Just a few more weeks,
