Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

OMG, Drunk Dellie Hens!!!!!!

It wouldn't take much in their drinking water to get them staggering I'd imagine..... It would be even funnier if you could give them some nice bugs to chase once they were a bit drunk. Of course now we sound like college kids giving the house cat alcohol. Not very PC at all. We'll have PETA and the ASPCA on this thread in no time!

Of course getting myself in that college frame of mind puts all kinds of innuendo into my head.

Rooster Booster hasn't helped?

You mean the anti pick stuff with coal tar? Nope. They just eat it off. These are tough women!

I used that on my Marans boy, and it was like Tom Hanks in "Big" with the caviar.... she was wiping her beak in the shavings, shaking her head.... it was freakin' hilarious!! LOL! I'm sorry it didn't work.

on those girls!!

It's looking more and more like Duct Tape is the only answer.... but maybe getting the drunk before you put the duct tape on might lessen the trauma.

Seriously though, they do have those anti-pecking devices for people who don't want to debeak.

Seriously, I'll give them all away before I resort to the peeper things. No way I'd be sucked into doing that-seems completely ridiculous. Somewhere else in a layers-only flock or with a different rooster, maybe things would be okay. I may even keep Ameraucana cockerel and have a combined Del and Ameraucana coop led by him. Little comb and no wattles to grab hold of and I can always tell the eggs apart. Still means Isaac would have to go elsewhere, poor sweetie.

Scott,

You ever bite into a persimmon that wasn't ripe? It's like sucking all the moisture out of your mouth....but with a sweet flavor to try to entice you to do it. Now that I think about it, the birds never touch our persimmons.
