Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Sounds like too much work for me, Jeremy. It wasn't just a BR/NH cross; it was a mutation, a sport, that just popped up. If you cross NH rooster over BR hen, all you get is a black sexlink. If you cross a BR roo over NH hen, you get all barred birds with red leakage in the hackles. I'd improve on the stock we have, but eventually, someone needs to find new blood so no one needs to resort to outcrossing again, if possible. That is a tough assignment, finding new lines. I wouldn't try to start with the original cross, though.

No way, as in there is no way in heaven that I would attempt that project!

L0L, I can only imagine all of the headaches you would potentially run into along the way...

But wouldn't it be worth it in the long run?

Doesn't Cyn have some pretty good Barred Rocks...

She sure does!

Hi!

Those are mine! The roo is from seriousbill eggs.

And the other cockerels are from my Bill Braden hatch. I haven't noticed the one guy's tail being too high. I'll take a closer look tomorrow.

Highsprings, just remember that it might be the picture and not the Roo.... take a good look at him when he is walking around and see if the tail is always at that 90* angle, or if he just pulls it up once in a while. You might ave just snapped that photo at the wrong time. It has happened to me with my Roo...I've looked at the picture and thought I had an awful tail, then out in the yard I see it's not a bad tail at all.
