Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Good Morning!

I am here, somewhat rested and going back at it...I just wanted to say "Thank you" for listening to my whining the past couple of weeks. I will check in later today.

Cyn, hug my big blue Suedenator for me and give him a good squeeze. Tell him it is getting closer to pancake time.

Laney, I know they will be fine I am just a nervous ninny. I worry about Carbon Monoxide and everything so I am making husband promise to stop every 3 hours instead of every 4. LOL Mine you I used to transport my horses and such in an enclose trailer and stop and let them out and such. So, I am just a worrier I guess.

Good morning everyone,

Cetawin, moving sucks. I'm sure I don't have to tell you this, l0l, but I know first hand. My dad used to move us around quite literally every year when I was growing up, finally my mom put her foot down when I got into middle school and we stayed put. But I know the worry of making sure everything is done, nothing was forgotten, then the stress of actually moving! Ugh. I hope that everything ends up working out for the best, sounds like things are getting better. Hope you get to breathe a little easier soon.

I'm going to candle once more tonight and take out any bad eggs, then tomorrow we'll remove the turner and let her be. I haven't started getting nervous (much) yet. That'll probably come after I get to see how many chicks have developed at this point...

Oh! Look what I found on craigslist for dirt cheap,

Originally it was used as a tractor, then they used it as a small coop (note the added plywood floor.) After much sanitation and a few bits of wood reworking it's going to be my brooder for all the lil' babies that'll be coming into the word soon.

It's approx. 6 X 6 and does in fact have a nesting box and roost pole that I'm thinking about leaving in. I figure I could use it later after the chicks are grown for something else? We plan on having a "built in brooder" in the coop when we move to the new house, so I won't need it for that again. Any suggestions?

Good find! Just be sure to use strong bleach, then ammonia on it (not together!). Ammonia kills cocci, but bleach kills everything else, then let it dry in the sunshine. That should work nicely, Jeremy.

Beth, I sent you an email.

Ya know, I was just thinking .... When I log on to BYC, coming here to the Delaware thread is kinda like, "coming home," if ya know what I mean. It isn't like a Delaware thread anymore, but more like a meeting place for friends (owned by Delawares!)....

It's a place to go and check in on each other, to wish each other well, to tell stories of events (happy and sad), and even to talk chickens on occassion!

Awwww, anyway .... just my thoughts.

I got more work done on the runs today, before the rain ran me inside. I really had hoped to be finished today, but it will take yet another day!

Dark and dreary, and wet (2 PM) ...

Kathy, you are right- this is a special thread. I get up every morning and wonder how everyone is. AND how everyone's chickens are. . . . .

My sad note of the day- I found my cat's body. I think it was probably fast - he was electrocuted in the neighbors goat fencing. At least I know.

The wondrous note of the day. In all the burying and crying, I forgot I wasn't wearing my chicken boots when I went to put the kids up for the night. Luke takes exception to ANY change in clothing, plus he HATES being put up at night. He went for my feet. ULTRASUEDE came to my rescue and body slammed Luke off me, and went after him. I have a new hero (well, my DH dug the hole for Tigger while I cried, so he is still #1, but Ultrasuede is right behind him) Needless to say Ultrasuede got his own whole lettuce leaf!

No matter what happens, there is always some little, splendid gift in the day, when you live with and love animals.

Beth, I am sorry about your cat...poor thing.

Well everything is cleaned in 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, livingroom, kitchen, laundry, diningroom and just my room, closet and bath. Whew....We are leaving here tomorrow regardless. We have got to get on the road and we are both exhausted. So, I may not check back in here but I will call Cyn and she can update you all.

Send prayers and well wishes for this to be a quick safe trip....especially for the animals.

Loves and Hugs...

PS: Suede sons ROCK!
