Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

<----is noticing how speckledhen completely ignored my proposition on the Suede coop and Ike coop painting.

Kathy, the splashy furry feathery thing wants to come live with me when Polly comes.

I have to save Beth ya know.

My trip was so bad that I could not steal any chooks along the way.

I had them all picked out and stuff too.

I have had all of my pretty chickies in hiding, until I sure cetawin was clear of the area. Now that she has passed on by, I can show you pictures!

Hi Dellie lovers. Let me first apollogise as I have not kept up with this thread in a few days, so I've missed a bunch of stuff.

Cetawin, glad you made it cross country. I say what ever doesn't kill us, makes us stronger. So think of how strong you will be once you get settled, you won't have to do weight training

and I won't even get started on your neighbors

Kathyinmo, I have to say that I am a little bit jealous of your latest hatch. I was on Pine Groves waiting list since October of last year for Reds. I couldn't waite that long so I got some beauties from Taterschickens instead. I just hatched 12 from her and have 62 more in the incubator(s). (Not all of them are RIR's in the bator. Some of them are Dellies from my own flock.) I do love a well bred Red and wish you the best with your new hatchlings

And I would love to see pics of ShelleyB's Del chicks. She has some nice looking Dels in her yard. Kathy, you should have a contest called "guess how many chickens I have." I can't even imagine, I can't even begin to try to count what you have in your yard!

joletabey: I don't know what Kathy thinks, but just two breeds? That would be like having two pairs of socks.....two glasses in your cupboard...buying two gallons of gas at a time............(if I wore dresses, no rumors please) two dresses in the closet....... is it possible to stop at two? I guess some people stop at two breeds and I suppose there is nothing wrong with that.........but I wish you the best of luck.

Patrick - I know, I know, but let me keep my illusions for as long as possible!!!! Besides, I might have to try to muscle Cetawin out of the way for certain birds, and since she survived this trip of hers and now has the strength of 10 Grinches plus two, I would have no chance, unless, of course, I raced off to Missouri while she was trying to steal Ike and Suede from Cynthia.......

I was on that waiting list for months! I think since July or August. I am so glad I waited though.

Chickens in my yard? ha, I wish .... they are mostly in the brooder!
gig.gif
I can hardly wait to have them grown and in the yard! The count? Well, I quit counting after ..... after ..... after a while! I grow them out, just so I can pick the best ones for my breeders. The rest I will process or sell.

OH, I think you know what I would say!

I agree with your analogy .... especially the 2 dresses!

Beth, get busy and build more coops! Then, put incubator and eggs on your list ! Ya just gotta try it!

Well, come on down! You can stay in the guest house. BUT, this is what you are likely to see at the guest house door greeting you (actually begging for treats!) ....

My son is staying in the guest house, and he spoils them rotten!

ETA: If cetawin would hurry up and find her camera cord, I wouldn't have to keep posting these pictures!

Oh, heavens, Kathy, just make the dog and chickens black and it DOES look like my back deck- the two sexlinks I inherited from the neighbor and the nieghbor's Feist mix are out there NOW, looking for a handout!!! The DH and I have a habit of feeding anything that shows up, hence we are "the spot" for the neighborhood animals to congregate...
gig.gif

I know, I know, coops and a 'bator. If the DH keeps on his kick about "organic home grown chicken and turkey" I think I will be able to swing it!!! I have an idea for using pallets for an insulated coop, without taking them all apart. . . . . .a sort of half way house for young 'uns!

That's where I got the idea- we are cleaning out the garage today, and I have a plethora of pallets from storing hay - I hate to waste or throw away anything, so I have been thinking out loud at the DH, who likes it better when I DON'T spend a lot of money on a project, so if I only raise babies spring through early fall, I know I can make something out of it all that will work. And if my insulating idea works, then maybe winter youngsters are a possibility.

Who is it we know with Barnevelder's?
