Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

aaaawwww Cyn I am so sorry. Poor Ivy, that girl is a strong soul. She has been through so much and still she goes on. What a good girl Lexie is to stay with her so closely. I hope Ivy's passing is peaceful and quick.

No one treats their kids better than you do!

Kermy sounds like a dream roo- what a honey. I hope you get a picture of that- he's a keeper!

Cetawin, how is Cannonball's owies this morning? It's so nice to have you in the same time zone!!!!

I separated Limping Lizzie yesterday, the rest of my supposedly sweet and innocent darling Dellies were walking on her, picking her head open and not even Ultrasuede was protecting her. She is back in the brooder on the porch. She has a royal purple head from Blu-Kot and a full crop from her own special dish of scrambled egg. I can't figure out what is wrong- she won't put weight on her left leg, uses her wing to balance. No injury to the foot or leg that I can find, no weird swelling- I am assuming it is some kind of pulled tendon or strained something from Luke and Ultrasuede being less than gentlemanly, and she just needs rest. She is sparkling and happy this morning, seems fine by herself. I will put her in the cat carrier back in the run so she can see everyone- advice from anyone will be appreciated!

Kathy- did you know people are betting on you? Me included. . . .

Well, who knows how long Ivy will hang on? She is a strong hen and if she hadn't been, she would have died a year ago, but she rallied, began laying again, twice, and we have Fern because of that. Ivy didn't come out when everyone else did this morning. DH offered her a treat of scratch and she pecked at it, but without enthusiasm. We have resigned ourselves to losing her very soon and have her grave dug under the beautiful white pine tree behind the garden that has thrived because of the nourishment of those who have gone to the Great Roost in the Sky before Ivy.

Beth, I hope your girl recovers from her injury. Sometimes, they do, with enough time. All you can do is feed her extra protein, maybe some vitamins daily.
