Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Laney, I remember when I was a kid, we never locked the door of the house or the car doors. If someone knocked on your door, you didn't peek nervously through the peephole before opening it. Actually I don't think we had peepholes. But, on the other hand, there were no household computers, and I wouldn't have met you or Cyn or Kathy or Cetawin or Scott or Tacey or Delgirl or Zephyrcreek or Crazyhen or Rwoman or Crazy Lady or Mrs. AK or Tim or Bassleg or Jeremy or Patrick or- I know I am forgetting lots of others I really like. . . Alzheimers! Could we get a TARDIS and go back in time and take computers with us? I loved the old lifestyle!

Anyway, if I bake the cake with a file in it for Cetawin, would you bring the tea? Then we could all keep vigil for Ivy while we keep Cetawin company, sort of divert the police while she files her way out?

I am not making light of Ivy's plight- I am praying she goes in peace without Tom and Cynthia having to do anything. . . . . there has just been TOO MANY DEATHS lately, and I am holding it all off with the hand of weird humor.

Ivy isn't looking good. She spent the entire day under the coop. When DH carried her in so she wouldn't have to negotiate the ramp, she drank and drank. Last I saw her, she was standing on the bottom rung of the roost with eyes half closed and her color very dark. I hope she passes on tonight, though we will miss her terribly and so will Lexie who spent most of the day just sitting with her.

I am so sorry about Ivy. Its hard when our favorites get sick and we lose them. Is she an older hen? For you and your husbands sake (as well as hers), I hope she does pass soon, and quick.

Sorry for the absence, again. I keep getting on and reading, but I have to wait for this computer to decide if it want to load a page or not

We've all been there, I think.

On hatching news....

I have 5 new baby Delawares from my own birds in the hatcher, as well as a CM/Barnyard cross. Two of the Dels just popped right out as I went to check on them a few minutes ago. I was so nervous today because I couldnt be home, practically ran to the hatcher when I did finally get home. One chick... after all day. Now six, out of 35 eggs so far. I think there are 5 more that are pipped. I know, I know. Pictures. I'm workin on it!!

Sorry to hear about Ivy and congrats on all the new additions everyone. I haven't posted in a while but have to give an update. We entered a couple of birds into the county fair and did okay. It isn't a huge show so they break down chickens into heavy, standard, and bantam breeds. Our birds won reserve champion standard (golden-penciled hamburg)

and champion heavy...drumroll...the Del roo, Dale. (We usually do much better on naming birds but it must have been a bad day!)

I thought that you guys might be interested. I still have to get pics of the girls in the daylight sometime, sorry.

Good morning Dellie lovers everywhere!

How is everyone? Cynthia, how is Ivy?

Ke-ben - congratulations!!!! Those are BIG ribbons! Dale looks like a handsome boy- he looks proud of himself standing by his prize.

Delgirl and Jeremy- thank you for chic pics- makes my morning!!! Quasi looks great, Jeremy, and is giving you quite some sass in one picture. Delgirl- hope the rest of your hatch goes well!

Cetawin, how was the dentist visit? I almost hate to ask. . . . .

Limping Lizzie is doing better. She sits up on her haunches/ hocks ( for lack of a better term) has a great appetite and is moving herself around more- I just wish I knew what part of her is strained/sprained/hurt, etc. Nothing is swollen. She just still does not want to put full weight on the leg. I ordered Poly Vi Sol or however you spell it, w/o iron. I didn't realize you can't just waltz into Rite Aid or someplace and buy it. She also gets her own little scrambled egg for extra protein.

Kathy, are your Del girls laying more consistently? I am finally getting a better daily average. Lizzie is not laying since her injury, which I expected, and I still have someone laying a membrane egg (with yolk) everyday, but am getting close to an egg a day from the other 6 girls.

What else is new in Dellie land?
