Here they are got 14 out of 15 dels, 3 out of 4 marans, 2 out of 3 bant. friz crosses. and 1 who knows. Thought it was a del egg. but here's the dels.

I especially collected the Del eggs, but saw one on the counter and thought "this look like a nice egg". Thinking it was a Del. But Eric the CM is the father so guess it's not Nicks. Thought the bant.friz was crossed with Nick and still do since she has black in her and the chicks are black w/ yellow spots on their heads.

Still great hatch for me. 20 out of 23. Forgot to mention the pointy end down eggs won. The three eggs that didnt' hatch were pointy end up. Stored that is. 1 Del, 1 marans, and 1 bant. friz cross. so it wasn't the breed.

Scott, someone suggested to me that I take the oyster shell "dust" from the bottom of the bag and put it right in the feed, so that everyone is getting it - I haven't had a soft shelled egg for several days now, so I am hoping that works. I use DE in my shavings, but have not put it in food yet - it's supposed to be good for all sorts of intestinal things, isn't it?

Scott, I do the same thing Cyn does. I have a container (a gladware plastic thingy with the lid) that I just toss the shells into and when it gets full I take the shells, place them on a cookie sheet without rinsing them out and put them in a 200 degree or low temp oven for about an hour until they are dry. Cool them, crush them up and put in their food or in a separate dish with yogurt or scrambled eggs. They get them like that a couple times per week. The oyster shell can be put in their food and offered free choice to them. They even make a crushed oyster shell for pullet that looks like pieces of granite almost but is small and does not have the sharp edges....Mana pro is the brand I use. Southern States will get you oyster shell in a 50# bag for under $10 here.


Regarding Hughes Net well let me tell you this...a couple mouthy Dellies visiting customer service gets you better service.

Just throw a Dellie at them and release the other one to run amuck and they give you what you want if you will only pry the chicken off their glasses, earrings and rings.

So far so good but I did tell them Not to make me come back or I would bring Thor who hates it when his BYC surfing is infringed upon.

Okay here are the pics...gosh they love all the green grass. Thor and Severus are ranging together with their girls without incident...I think them getting along so well as brooder mates and Severus being passive towards Thor made it stay smooth between the two of them. Thor is the man when it comes to breaking up fights between the girls...he will have none of that. When the girls go at it, he rushes over and steps between them lowering his head and threatening them both, every now and again one of them gets a thunk on the head from him too. Usually the one starting the fight gets the thunk...he is no nonsense about fighting.

Thor's fluffy backside. You can see his project girl by the water, Luna my splash cochin. I am determined to breed a spash orp with fuzzy feet and legs however it requires Luna to stop flaring up at Thor for this project to begin.

TwoChicks, my Cannonball has little to no markings and very little tail color and what she has is barred....she has a perfect 5 point comb and is a mess! Spoiled rotten sweet girl. See the next to last picture...you can see her about center of the pic in the front...she is almost completely white but the best girl. INTO EVERYTHING!

I know...Thor gets irritate with me from rubbing his back and going down his tail to that mass of fluff and pulling on those feathers...gently of course but he gets this look that screams "Mom what are you doing? Leave my butt feathers alone you are embarrassing me"

They all look good after their long trip I am tickled pink with them. They are gaining back the little weight they lost and I swear some are putting on more. I am going to worm everyone as soon as I find my ivermectin...I saw a couple icky poos so I might as well worm everyone just in case ya know.
