Today is day 18 for the Del eggs I received from Mrs. AK-Bird-Brain, out of 12 Dels, 1 went into lockdown. She also sent 3 BBS Orps, 1 also went into lockdown. Wish me luck on these 2 little ones, I'm hoping so very much that they make it out of the egg.

Morning everyone!
Scott only 3 days left on my dellys, rocks,and 1 orp egg left.
Brrr it turned cold last night down to 4o this morning. I looked outside and did not see any frost. That would be a blessing since I have all manner of fruit blooming or like strawberries beginning to ripen.
I can hear Stormy my splash roo still welcoming the morning. Oh I hope he always stays as sweet as he is. He makes the biggist hens ever. Someday I am going to weigh that gentle giant.

Urbanfarmboi You have a beautiful roo. I hope mine turn out as pretty.

Cyn, have you found a solution for Tiny?

Cyn if you ever have a black hen from Suede I want her. I think I read somewhere that splash +black = blue. Oh those black hens of hijinks are sooooo pretty too. Have a good morning all. Gloria Jean

Gloria Jean, I'll let you know when I have a black pullet from Suede. I'll put Orp eggs under the next broody along with the BRs, if I have any when the next psycho-session hits, LOL. Yes, black + splash = 100% blue

I haven't made any decision about Tiny yet. In a couple weeks, I plan to try to put the youngsters in the main coop. I already have the feeders low for Shadow and Tiny is taller than my little Cochin girl already. She is just so small and with her bad eyesight, it's anyone's guess how things will go. If it doesn't look like it will work out for her, Cetawin will take her home with her when she comes down here in a few weeks. She has a Salmon Fav hen who is very mild mannered and is picked on so maybe they'll be the perfect pals for each other.

Hi ALL- I know I haven't been on in a while. But you guys are always good with problems like the one I have this morning. Yesterday, one of my little 2mth old dellie roos got in with the next door neighbors dogs. He was in there maybe a minute, I looked him over and his body is ok, but he has gotten a broken toe. The poopr little guy! I don't know what to do about it, as of last night he was still walking on the foot. And there is no puncture wound, or break in the skin. PLEASE HELP ME SUPER DELLIE FRIENDS, IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO?????

Most of mine are sweet, but Dusty and Nugget are nuts while their eggs are hatching. Nugget has calmed down now that all three of her babies are out.

Everyone, check out the thread about Nugget under Behaviors! Pics of the babies are there. They are snuggled under mama right now since today is a bit chilly for them at the moment. Maybe they'll all be out and I can get better pics later.

help something is happening. I went down to check my hen and bids. there is an egg that has lost almost all of its shell and the membrane is exposed. There is a teeeny little split at the top of the membrane is iit trying to hatch??? OH

Hmm, maybe the membrane is a bit tough, but if there is a breathing hole, the baby should be able to get out, unless the membrane dries out too much.
