National news headlines ..... Pet roosters kill dog! That's not an error, folks. No, it's not the other way around. ..... Oh, yes, I can see it all now. Thor is just determined to be recognized in his lifetime!

A while back I read on another thread that (I think it was PinkChick) a couple roosters broke threw a dividing fence (not a strong fence line) to get to a hawk that killed a hen! I can't recall all the details now, though I found that amazing. I do recall that the hawk did NOT get the chicken dinner he had wanted.

I know he is...I am so proud of him and Severus. I am still in awe of them and the "teamwork" I really believe when the day comes that I lose Thor it will be to old age or him attacking something. He will protect those girls and me....I wish I owned a video camera because I would almost kill to have video of him chasing Cheyenne on her bike...that was so hysterical. Poor Cheyenne had no clue when she came riding down the hill into the backyard that Thor would chase her. LOL

I really want this rain to get over and done with so I can start getting the coop modified and get runs built. I will feel much better being able to protect the world from Thor.

What I do not get it is why someone would drop a little tiny thing that off way out here, there is no way it wold survive on its own...I mean Paris Hilton's little purse monster is bigger than this thing was. I really thought it was a wood rat until it yelped. hahahaha But Thor grabbing it by the neck and shaking it made me take off running (and falling down the incline) to rescue the poor thing...he couldn't have weighed 2 lbs. I am surprised my SLW, Speckles did not beat the snot out of it. hahahahaha


I have never in my lifetime seen 2 rooster team up and that is what I was standing there trying to absorb...it really shocked me. I am so glad I kept Severus and re-homed Sirius and Draco...Severus is really a good boy and takes a passive position to Thor. I am still in awe of what I witnessed. I can now believe two roosters going after a hawk...no doubts these two would.

You need to always carry a camera in your pocket! Get one of those little video recorders like Cyn just got! I hate to miss out on any of the action around your place. It is always an eventful day there!

Yes well all I wanted to do was move out into the country as far from stupidty and neighbor's roaming dogs as I could get...now they are dropping them off here. This is the 4th dog to be dumped out here since we got here but the only one to come into our yard. sheesh I just wanted a quiet retirement with my chickens and ducks....ya know for excitement kill a raccoon every now and then if one happens by...maybe a skunk or on a good target practice day...a coyote. But geez...roaming chickens, roaming horses and dogs being dropped off, when I think what could have happened if I were off somewhere and not right here in the house...it scares me or if had been a big dog, Thor would have still gone after it.

Cyn, remember how I told you the little dogs eyes were freaked out when Thor charged him?....this is what it reminded me of...except the dog was gray and it did not have a needle. LOL

Good Grief I WANT ONE JUST ONE QUIET DAY! The birds were just going off...like they were yesterday and I grabbed the pistol and ran outside determined to kill whatever it was upsetting them today....the dingbats were going off and the boys were alarming at the wood line....so I start scanning the wood line and there was this precious little doe tucked behind the leaves of a tree trying to hide. The chickens scared the crap out her and annoyed me. LOL So I told them to SHUT IT and came back inside.



I WANT QUIET...I am making a sandwich and putting in Return of the King and it better stay quiet around here for the next three hours or someone is gonna get it.

Thor rules!!! And Severus is awesome! Wahoooooooooooooo, you two roos!!!! Cetawin, you need an Attack Rooster sign on your coop. That is a great story.

Yup- life at the end of a country road- drop offs are frequent- people are looking for out of the way places where no one NOTICES they drop off doggies and kitties and that are so far out they can play Confuse-a-Pet as to an animal figuring out it's way back. I have turned in a few here, too, although I kept Oreo the cat, as he was too cool to pass up. Lost hunting dogs turn up here, but they are usually collared and easy to return-

I got thinking about the rooster team effort, and I wonder if that is not more common than we would think- the first couple of times DH mowed around the coop, Luke stalked him on the inside as he mowed, and Ultrasuede kept parading in front of the girls, keeping them away from the fence. . . . .not as dramatic, of course, but a sort of team work. Maybe when you have two good roos with good sense, they will work stuff like that out?

Have you ever considered writing kid's books? Thor and his girls - there are so many good stories there- I bet they would sell!
