OK so I lied... but they keep hatching all by themselves with no help at all! No added humidity, nothing! Don't you sleep woman????

I know, it goes against everything we read about hatching! Yeah that's why I am not asleep too. But I am going to try. I like to plan my breeder pens as I go to sleep and next thing I know it's morning.

Kathy - No I do not have cameras...why would I have needed them? They have lived in the house and the garage until now. hahahahaha I do patrol off an on all night though. On average now I go out and walk around for a perimeter check 3 or 4 times.
Germaine - the cost would be more than worth it...I could not replace Thor for any amount of money...he is priceless to me. I do not want to lose any of my girls either. I have (I am almost afraid to say it for fear of jinxing) yet to lose a bird to a predator. I know I cannot be lucky be forever but I do my best to protect them from anything and everything.

I know I am a page or two behind, but I was desperate for sleep. . . .
Germaine, he is one handsome boy-great body and wing carriage. I agree with the 5 pt. comb and that the tail set is high. Yes, he has what everyone seems to call smut (spots) and I have the same problems with Luke, so I have been chewing my fingernails wondering whether the smut will molt out. As I recall a month or so ago Cynthia said it should molt out soon if it's ever going to. ???? Maybe she can tell us more about that? Isaac seems so nice and white!
Marty- I LOVE that you took over the website. You can use pics of my hens - how do I get them to you? (I only offer because Cyn forwarded them to Janet, who said they were VERY nice birds. . . .and she should know). Also, you should add our slogan - SDWD - Society for Delaware World Domination and a picture of the flag!!!
How else can we help you with this site? I think there is a Delaware chat group on yahoo- maybe contact those people?
Cetawin- Thor deserves a SERIES of books- like the Black Stallion books or something. You can add a personal touch by letting him autograph each one.
Night time noises- Luke gets mean to the girls at night if they move around, and he hauls them into place by the neck- and they can sure scream then! I spied on them one night - he get's really picky about where everyone sleeps. I don't know what they will all do when Ultrasuede moves to new digs with his girls - they use him as a feather bed- he is on the bottom of the pile in the nest box.
Scott- hope the hatch goes well and we get to see baby pics today sometime!!

Morning all....
Its HATCH DAY for the 3 broody girls. So far, Sugar and Cora are just sitting tight and seem to have no babies. Mammy, who is sitting on 12 eggs, hatched 1 last night, a Del of course, and she appears to have killed it. There is a "bite mark" on the back of its neck (bloody of course) and it is just outside of the nest. I'm hoping that maybe it was trying to wander too far and Mama was trying to get it back. Mammy is sitting on the most eggs of the 3 girls....6 del and 6 lavenders. I hope she isn't going to treat them all this way.
I was really looking forward to seeing a Mama raise her own babies....but I sure wasn't ready for this! It's her first time hatching so maybe she doesn't really know what she's doing either.
Hopefully things will get better throughout the day

Silly Mammy- I hope you can keep a close eye on her and rescue her babies if she is going to be a meanie- hopefully Sugar and Cora will be perfect moms.
