I hate all that "headache med"....makes me feel out of my body sometimes. I see a chiropractor regularly, so I will ask him about an acupuncturist. Fortunately, I have no nausea or light sensitivity....just this freakin pain.

Thanks for the advise....gonna give it a try

You are very welcome.

hope the pain lessens or goes away soon.

Scott, if you have a chiropractor and have been seeing him regularly, call NOW- TODAY - and see what he says. See what he can recommend re: acupuncture- its really miraculous. BUT also consider, it might be worth a little deeper check up. . . .not to be an alarmist, but, dear Yardfull o'Rocks, we do not want to hear that you have a head full of "rocks", if ya know what I mean. . . . . just please call someone NOW and do something!!!! Don't be a tough guy, ok?
Prayers and hugs.

Cetawin, are you well yet? I like Thor's hole. See if you can point him toward places that need a bush or two, and he can do the work for you.

Well broodies are all out with their babies. They're only nearly two weeks late getting off the nests. Earlier babies were taken and in the brooder, but each has at least one baby with her. Have to find a private place for them next time. Darned if there is only one Del chick. All the rest are either EE's or Barred Rock or CM crosses.

Moms are two CM's and a BO. They are cute though. One mom had one and then she had three. The other two must have been one of the other girls. Anybody have pics of a private broody set up?

Beth, I am not yet done with this mess. It is in my head and upper chest and driving me nuts!

Luckily, Thor chose a spot I am going to dig up anyway so he can do the whole thing for all I care. I just hate it that the wenches have now found his spot and they nag him until he gets out of it. Meanies...all of them.

Here are some pics from this afternoon...

Everyone stealing his hole

I called Thor to me to show him their treachery and he came flying up the yard wattles swinging

7630_hpim6990.jpg

He told me what he thought about it...we talk all the time

7630_hpim6999.jpg

Then I told him he needed to go get one of the girls and bring her back...so he went after her

such is the day in the life of a stud muffin rooster. Wenches to watch, wenches to collect, wenches to scold and wenches who steal your food.

Tim,
All of my broodies are out with their babies today, too! It is a hot day, after rain last evening. The broodies and babies are just so fun to watch. My broody set up is a rabbit hutch surrounded by fencing. Those babies just follow mama right up the walkway to get inside.

Scott,
Good luck with the broodies and your headache.

cetawin,
Love the pictures. What a beautiful background. I am sure the birds are loving all the free ranging!

I can relate, Scott. Usually, an antihistamine added to one of Tom's muscle relaxers and a pain killer seems to work for me when I have one of those excruciating headaches. Naturally, you need to lie down and rest after taking stuff like that. Gets rid of the headache, but man, makes you feel foggy afterward.

Thor has the wenches under control, I'm sure. He's a good boy, but he's also no-nonsense, as a good rooster should be.

The darn thing with the broodies is after Frenchy went and I set her up in her own crate, the other three went. Two of them are CM's and darned if I could tell them apart. When I finally got things sorted out they both had a bunch of eggs. Then the BO she went at the same time and I never saw them out of the nest so other hens got in there. Dumb me I never thought to mark the original eggs, which were BR's that I bought. So between the three in the coop and Frenchy I ended up with about 25 chicks. So in the past month or so that means about 45 chicks.

I dont' like to break a broody but it looks as though I'm going to have to violate my own policy or start giving chicks away. Well ok I have given some away with purchase. Nothing special though. I ended up with a few crosses. And I gave away the EE roos.

Oh and get this. My Bro has a friend who lives in the city. I mean a few blocks from downtown. Easily within walking distance of the city hall. LOL It seems a hen of unknown breed, showed up at his yard and went in with his pigeons. Small hen most likely some sort of EOG. Laid white eggs. So my bro joked he was going to come and throw it over the fence in with mine. I said I don't want it. So at my DU wake I saw my bro again and again he said he was going to bring it over and throw it over the fence. (he's 70) Calls me chicken man now, and I said I didn't want it. It really was funny I'm sitting at my uncles wake and here comes my bro and walks by me and says loud enough for my dead uncle to hear. "Hello Chicken Man". LOL Everybody laughed of course. Me too.

Well a couple of days ago while I was away he brought it over and left it in a box in my garage and a message on my phone, "Tim I left your chicken in the garage". Thing is I walked right past it and never noticed the poor girl. I have no place to quarantine her and I didn't want her. I couldn't get mad cuz he is 70 and I love my bro. So it really is funny. I posted her on craigs for free and she was gone the next day. Thank God. Got the kid to take an EE roo in the process. No money but at least I got one less roo.

Hello, Chicken Man,

I love your story!

Thanks for sharing it with us. Your brother sounds like a hoot! It sounds like you have all kinds of chicks at present.

About those broodies, I know what ya mean .... It's hard when there are so many of them! I have one, with her chicks, located just outside my basement studio door, under the deck. She is in a large dog house. I had no other place to put her, and still allow her outside.

The other two share the rabbit hutch. I do have all the broodies and babies sold, but am waiting for them to be picked up. Are you letting your broodies raise the babies, or do you take them and brood them yourself?

Excellent! Did you give Mammy a swift gentle kick in the backside too? I would have....Bad Broody Bad Bad Bad.

Fortunately, I didn't have to. The Delaware Girls pretty well took care of all she could stand when I put her back in that coop!!

I was ready to kill her! The one little Del baby I put in with Sugar seems to be ok. A little skinned up around one eye, but seems to be happy with its "new mama". I just can't believe a "mama anything" could kill a baby like that! Nature is horrible sometimes.

BTW - I have a KILLER headache and have had now for almost 2 weeks. My forehead is actually painful to the touch. Anyone got a good remedy? Dr called me in some Cataflam (??) but it hasn't done a thing some me.

Do you have a sinus infection? A headache like that could be a symptom of one. Migranes don't usually last that long... there are cluster migraines though.

Headed out to see if any more babies have hatched
