Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

I believe the aspirin dose is 5 tablets (25 grains) per gallon of water. The solution aspirin equivalent to 25 grains/gallon or 324 mg/gallon of drinking water. The dosage rate is about 25 mg/lb body weight per day.

This will work well, as it will also work as a blood thinner.

Cyn: I have had to remove a toe from my rooster before. Its wasnt fun..but it saved his life.

Cynthia, I just got home and caught up with Isaac's story - DO WHATEVER YOU CAN DO TO SAVE HIM-I will send money, too!!!!! I LOVE IKE!!!!! Does it smell? I should think ANY vet could work on a chickens leg-
There is a bird vet in Asheville somewhere- I know that is 3 hours also, but I'll fill your gas tank, too!!!

Sunshyne- welcome to this thread, and excuse us for being wound up in Ike, but he is the wonderful daddy of a lot of Dellies on this thread- and we all love him to pieces! Thanks for posting pics-where did you get your girls?

Dr.Bolt at Sweeten Creek Animal Hospital in Asheville works on birds. I know they won't be open till Monday, but if you needed him- 828-684-8875. The emergency animal hospital I called in Asheville recommended him highly-

I appreciate all the outpouring of love for Isaac. We soaked the toe in epsom salts water, gave him another penicillin injection and a couple of coated low dose aspirin and re-bandaged the toe. Tom says it smells, but I didn't smell anything. It is badly infected for sure and I think that alone would have a bad odor anyway. It's not really black, but very swollen and sore.

I was closing everyone in for the night and noticed that Nugget was panting heavily, she just wasn't quite right. No one else was panting at all. Her crop feels doughy, but I need to check that first thing tomorrow. She seems like she can't get her breath and I can't find anything amiss other than the crop thing. It's not even really hot here tonight so can't be that. I'm not sure how much more I can take. I guess I need to take a harder stance and just cull anyone with any issue like a farmer or breeder would do.
