Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Hey Melissa!
welcome-byc.gif
And just to toss in my two cents worth here, YES! Build it as big as your DH will allow. In the category of "I wish I had known this before I started", here's a nickel's worth of free advice. When you're drawing out your plans, try to figure dimensions in full sheets of plywood. It's really a bugger boo to need only a quarter of a sheet and you have to buy a full sheet anyhow. Example: It's easier and more cost effective, with less waste of materials to build an 8' x 8' coop, than it is to build a 6' x 6' coop. Get the idea?

I'm in the process of trying to convince Denny that we need to build three small (5 bird size) coops so that each of my other boys can have their own coop and small flock of girls to keep them happy. They're all such sweet guys. They deserve to have flocks of their own, in coops of their own! With their own little covered runs and everything! But DH is worried about making this place look like Toonerville or something.

*sigh* Yup! Definitely wish I had known then what I know now. I would have built a ginormous coop that I could divide up in the first place! Live and learn, eh?

Yard full o' rocks :

The Lisser....welcome, and build it as big as your DH will allow. I'm to the point now of contemplating tearing everything down I have and building one BIG building, like 80ft long and 10 ft deep, 8ft high and just partitioning off "rooms", all under one roof

Do it! Then come stay with us a few weeks and build me one too!

I warned kmwright about looking them in the eye, letting them watch TV and letting them hang around her husband too often....she did not listen to me....

Now the Dellie is watching smurfs on TV with her husband and she is jumping through the hoops of the Dellie's whims.

*shaking head* they never listen to the warnings...

See-mind control even second hand, over the internet. I tell ya, SDWD!!!!

Froggie, Serrin, give me one more month, maybe 6 weeks, and I will be able to ship Dellie eggs. My hens are beautiful and my roo is not a bad looking guy- but I need to move Ultrasuede in with his own women and give it a little time for his "influence" to disappear in the Dellie pen. Mine are all from Cynthia, so you have seen pics of Isaac, etc. Unless NC is too far away to ship eggs.
