Oh! I ordered some eggs from Tori and tried incubating them, none hatched though.

That's why I ordered the Braden eggs. Starbright Farms, that's ShellyB (spelling?) right?

Jeremy, I think Stewart has an awesome comb and nice tail markings and leg color. He will fill out lots more as he gets older. He's a nice looking boy! See, he did get more tail barring just like we were talking about weeks ago.

Yup, it's like one week he hardly had any tail feathers at all, then overnight they grew in like weeds. I'm happy with his appearance overall, I think Stewart's a keeper!

Yup, he's a keeper! Michelle has the brother to my Isaac, but she is switching around her breeders to replace them with up-and-comers, so not sure who will be her head rooster now. Hers are mostly related to Ike and look really great.

Who's Michelle?

Also- how long can a rooster, I dunno, do his job? Keeping eggs fertilized I mean. Is it good to keep a back up "in the wings", so to speak, every couple years?

Michelle is ShelleyB.
http://albc-usa.org/heritagechicken/definition.html

Definition of Heritage says :
Long, productive outdoor lifespan. Heritage Chicken must have the genetic ability to live a long, vigorous life and thrive in the rigors of pasture-based, outdoor production systems. Breeding hens should be productive for 5-7 years and roosters for 3-5 years.

Aawwwwww, there's my girl, Cannonball ! She wants to come home to me, and visit Jacob, Oliver, and Alexander! With her and these 3 guys we should get 100% on 5- point combs!

Cannonball, I'm on my way, honey .... Get packed!

Your Braden Dels look nice. I was able to buy 5 pullets and a rooster from him a couple of weeks ago. I sure am enjoying them.

Morning all....I think my hatch is over. 9 of 12 hatched. 1 pipped and quit (was a Del darn it). 1 "barely pipped", the other did nothing.

So, I have, 5 silvery blue crosses between Pepper and my blue rock and splash rock girls and 4 new Dellie babies, all resting safely in the brooder pen. I only put a 60W bulb on them since its sooooo &$%^ hot here right now....expecting 97F today and tomorrow.

Here are a few pictures
