This is off subject but I found some grown Delawares. Only problem is the lady said they carry a "lethal dwarfing gene"......has anyone heard of this? What exactly does it do?

They're talking about some I had originally. I had a line of Dels (not anymore) that carried a dwarf gene, one hen to be precise. Genetic testing on her daughter showed she had a double dwarf gene, which some never knew could happen. She has been sold along with her daughter and so far, I've seen no more dwarf Dels out of my birds. It's really a mystery, but Cetawin's vet was doing a study and tested one of Kira's daughters, who carried two copies of the gene, so I sold Kira and her daughter that I had here to a layers-only flock. My rooster, Isaac, is not related to Kira at all, so we don't believe he has anything to do with that issue and I've never hatched a dwarf here. My most recent hatch yielded one Del chick (broody hatch) and she is now six weeks, a big girl for her age and seems to be perfect.
