Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Jess, my cute "girl" from Cyn, being SUCH a del today! On top if the hardware cloth on the brooder which is not sturdy at all! BAD Jess!

Wouldn't you say that I have a little Floozy here??

I gotta say, Picasso, I like your masterpiece. Just put your autograph on her and send her to me.

Oh, she's not my work.

Thanks Nick, that's my Toby, the little stinky ham dog!

My friend has a great dog who looks just like her. In fact... I think it's named Toby!

Is she one of your Braden girls Jeremy? Better hold on to her if she is. There might not be any more of those for a loooong time, if ever.

I heard that he's not doing too well these days.

Nope, she's not from Bill.

Where does the time go???? My Del babies are going to be 4 mos. old next week.

I noticed that they are looking very grown up these days and they have little grown up attitudes too! Yesterday the 5 pullets that I have kept were moved to their permanent home in the laying flock where the Dels will one day be the primary layers for this flock, anyway..they have been temporarily living next to the big coop so the existing laying flock and the Dels could see each other through the fence. Things were great through the fence but once the girls went in they showed a 6 mos. old Black Copper Marans rooster who was boss. They weren't taking any guff from him.....no way...no how. They also showed a younger cockerel who thought he was going to puff up at them and flog.....they weren't having any of that either. My friendliest little Del girl grabbed ahold of the 6 mos. old Black Copper rooster with her beak and was shaking her head side to side like a dog playing tug of war with part of his hackles. OMG, I have never laughed so hard. She let go and stood up tall and jumped up at his face with both feet, twice. He did not try to do anything back to her, but the big ol' wussy did run outside.
I love these little big girls!

Pink, that sounds EXACTLY like my Delaware girls. They don't take kindly to being bossed around my anyone, not even my rooster.

Pink,
Love the story! Are these Delawares just crazy or what! LOL Human friendly, yet won't be bullied by any other birds!

Wow, 4 months already? Gee, those girls will be laying soon!
