After seeing the pics of your dels Kathy, I am convinced that I need to bring mine in and give them a BATH!

And yes I can see the green legs.

I saw some, certainly not all and only a few. The others look really good. It is so sad this happened. Do you know what causes the green legs? I know you told me it is a sex link thing. If you perpetuate the green legs will they start to lay green eggs? I was once told the easter eggers lay according to the color of their legs. LOL

Hey, that's a thought, Dave! Maybe they will lay green eggs!

I want to find out more about this gene that causes green legs. Can it be bred out, or are they all culls? That is my question. What about crossing back to a nice yellow legged New Hampshire?

So are their legs actually green, or do they only appear to have green legs and it's actually something like slate ("blue") legs covered by the Dels natural yellow color? Blue mixed with yellow yields green, at least when you're painting.

So, that said, could a breed with slate, gray or even black legs have been bred somewhere into the line? Assuming the green legged birds are from Jesse McDaniel's line only, maybe another breed was crossed in to increase vigor, production, etc.

I'm just thinking aloud, do you have any other theories or ideas Kathy?
