Just got a phone call from Paul Harter. My chicks are hatching and will be in the mail tomorrow! He is sending 18 delaware as well as 7 other chicks (partridge rock and new hampshire red).

I also have 23 delaware eggs from joletabey in the incubator due on April 29th.

I really need to get my coop finished!! LOL

That is great! How exciting.

By the way, there is no Red is New Hampshire... It is just New Hampshire.

I have a dozen Rhodel and Delaware eggs from Cindiloohoo in incubator #1. I can't wait to grow these out.

That's very common, no worries. Lots of folks say NHR rather than just NH, but Nick is correct, the breed is just called New Hampshire.

Congrats on all those Delaware babies. I was just noticing that even though my Isaac is over two years old now, he still has no yellowing in his saddles or hackles, which is very satisfying. If it's in their genetics, as it is with some lines, there's nothing to do to prevent it except to avoid making it worse by feeding lots of corn. Ike is always in the sun, too. Poor guy is missing all the feathers on the front of his neck, showing red skin. Darn hens are plucking the old, ready to drop feathers, it seems. Nitpicking women is Isaac's curse!
