Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

I took a few pictures today. The old ladies are molting and the pullets are finally filling out a bit. Seems like it takes forever (since I am so impatient).

on the same bird, CONSISTENTLY, along with the full front line (I hate those cut away chest areas I see in some Delawares)! These are from the same hatch. And, you can see Floozy's daughter has the pale legs, too.

Poor Oliver is molting and having to deal with all these new pullets besides his whiny molting hens, too. Poor guy.

I will be culling pullets this next week or so. I imagine I will only be keeping 4 or 5 for breeding experimentation.

This is the Delaware shape I want in my males. This is George, and he is larger than Oliver. I really like this rooster. He will be the father of my Delaware flock of the future.

That barred male is very good. Great body and head. maybe the wings need to come up a bit or it might be the way he is standing. paint him Del!
He is a good solid bird.

I can paint the barn now? WOOOO HOOOO ! ! ! I was hoping you would approve. George is the F1 sire. I have hatched a few F2s and am waiting to see what I have. As expected, most were black and-or barred. I have a few yellow chicks though, and just have to wait to see how they turn out. I think it is gonna take more hatching though. If all goes as planned, the F3s should all be Dels.

boy Kathy , some really nice birds..you get better every year, beautiful shape on a lot of those birds..wonderful job...really enjoy watching them evolve.. we all have a lot of work to do.. thats for sure..i had a dismal aussie breeding year..fantastic rooster but no hens really to go with him..tried a couple hatchery crosses but nope..wasnt to be..I love a good delaware and seeing the pics..husband said only 2 breeds really that he wants to see around..i chose delaware, but he really wants the white polet de breese that somone just imported. suppose thats the way it will go..the del is on my dream list. i cant wait to see what you come up with out of that rooster..other than color he looks lot like the standard pic..those babies are going to be stunners when they get painted..

Great improvements! Can't wait to see the next outcome.

Kathy, if any of my three F1 males look like George, I will be ecstatic- I am already so pleased with them! And the pullets are beautiful, good bodied girls.
