Hi Kim,

You can sometimes make it work if there are no females in the pen, just males, but males will fight. Another thing that will help is giving them plenty of space to stay apart.

Thank you, Rebel and Walt, for your replies. I was hoping that all my chickens could live in harmony out in the pasture during the winter but it sounds like that's asking too much.

Hey everyone, haven't checked in lately so thought I'd say howdy, and post a couple new pictures of the babies, there 17 weeks old now and 1 of them may be laying already, I got a medium brown pullet egg layed in the mini dog kennel coop this morning, not sure if peaches my BR or Freckles or SmartyPants layed it, tomorrow I'll be watching...LOL well anyway. What color brown egg do Delawares lay? Light medium or dark brown? My SS lay a light tan egg, my BSL lay a darker egg, and my BO, and SLW lay a medium brown egg, so now I need to watch what pullet is laying this pretty little medium brown egg.
But for your eyes to view heres the girls at 17 weeks

Yeah, 5 outta 7 of my Ideal Del pullets have the pinched tails and the white legs and the columbian neck pattern, ect.... too. Its just the hatcheries don't breed for correct type just for more or less pattern type and high production, in a mass production atmosphere. They are in it for the quick money not for the show, and before I get chawed on, I'm not dissing hatchery stock they are great for what they are intended for, supply and demand, and most will lay more eggs than you'd ever dream if properly cared for.
