Show Off Your Games!

"Roosters crowing in the distance" is a definite trigger issue I have here...many people in my neighborhood also have roosters. It also seems that barking/howling dogs, sirens, car alarms, anything like that sets this boy off. Since he's the only male American game I've ever had, I don't know if this level of noise is normal for them or if he's just unusually vocal.

He free-ranges with his hens all afternoon and the hens are penned up at night and he goes into his cage with a dark cover, but he still crows excessively in complete darkness too.

Parr for course with American Games. Could be worse, the American Dominique rooster roosting on my front porch starts at 11:00 PM. I tell my wife she is so lucky to have such a wonderful mocking birds and she now sleeps through it.

Curious, if they're Pumpkin Hulseys, why do I see pea combs, some slate and some white or yellow legs, and some with quite the beefy bodies while others have a more true, gamefowl type body? The first one just doesn't look purebred, and the last one has slate legs unlike the rest.

Just curious is all.

there's a contact link for the owner ....... no one can answer these questions but the owner !!

You know, I kinda browsed over them before.. Thought they looked OK. But since you mention it, the more I look the more they look a bit off.. Of course, they are only two dollars? The legs and pea combs aren't a big deal to me though..

ETA: Another red flag, notice in the pictures the wire in one pen looks like the same thing for another, meaning the pens are probably just separated by that piece of wire... No way my birds could be that close.

$2 would also make me a little nervous. They are good looking birds, but I agree with you DT, 5 minutes next to each other through that wire and my birds would be a mess.

Check the base of the tail feathers to see if they are still shielded. That would indicate if they are still growing. He doesn't appear to have a lot of sickle feathers so I would think it is still developing. He does have good station and is darn handsome if nothing else.
