in my 60 plus years of game chickens i've never seen this pattern before ..... he is a spectacular bird . Thanks for sharing

I don't even know what to call this pattern. The closest thing I can find to in the APA book is Mottled. It kind of looks like a mix of mottled and striped.

Not mottled. Mutation impacts color as well as pattern.

Believe it or not i just saw one on craigslist close to exactly the same pattern (pic was not the best but good enough) but this stag was straight comb .
The owner said he was half Hatch and half Brown Red .

PS ; he called him a BumbleBee

Thanks, bird in link looks redquill. Sometimes half looks full but a half in my experience does not have the shiny black base color on breast of jungleexplorers bird. Hen that is mother looks like a brown red although not all brown reds are the same.

I saw and ignored the product description. Owing to overall appearance of bird and situation is was photographed in, the seller either did know as much as I would like or did put much effort into it.
