I sold a couple of American Game hens to a neigbor, who bred them to a Brown Red OEGB rooster. He was a ferel rooster and was tough enough to keep all the other roosters away from the hens and out of the yard.

They had dozens of offspring.. I was kind of upset about the mating becasuse, like Saladin, I didnt want to ruin a good AGF dynasty with Bantam blood. Well the offspring ended up pretty nice. Most of them turned out medium sized. Alhtough she only kept one rooster from those matings, he was pretty awesome and had interesting features.

The only warning I would give, is that a heavy rooster on top of a bantam hen might hurt her.

Such an effort would be restricted to improving the bantam line and would take a lot of space, time, and birds to get something someone besides you would value. With that taken into account, most bantam lines could probably use a little more genetic variation to improve vitality. My experience does not indicate man-fighters coming from such a cross are the rule. That is likely to a function of the specific lines used to make the cross or possibly husbandry technique.

Anyone getting any gamefowl eggs? It would be interesting to see how geography affects them. Probably you Louisiana and Texas guys get eggs all year.
