Alright it's been dead around here so what y'all did with y'all's fowl today? For me it was fresh water with vitamins and electrolytes day and handled the rubles for a while. They're calming down a little better once in hand not so much entering pen. Prolly has a little to do with the hens should be setting any day now

Collected eggs today, then had to clean out the barn today, got the lawn mowed, weed eating done, grocery shopping done, Baked ham and sweet potatoes for supper. Got 2 loads of clothes done and washed dishes 2 times. Then had to feed all the chickens, put them all in their coops, then sat down for an hour babying little man.

Tomorrow I will get a small break. But I will get a chance to update Brenda on the eggs, which got candled today most look like they have something coming in them. Wont really know 100% for a few more days but I wanted to check today just in case if there were any duds didn't see a single dud in the bunch not yet at least, all had something in there coming along.

Of course though I can't see inside the really dark ones or the EE eggs. But I figured while turning I had better do a quick candling.

I had three hens commence setting on same day which makes for a very busy marking effort in about 22 days. I am also finishing the summerizing of pens so birds do not cook in sun. The summer yard is being prepped to take pens all summer where every body will be in shade. Fence will be put and dogs taught openings before actual moves so dogs can get in quick if a predator calls.

I found camo on one side and green on the other side tarps 5' x 7' at harbor freight for 3.00 each they work perfect for my dome pens which are 4'x5' I zip tied the front and middle and put clips on twine on the back. During good weather it's folded to the front and clipped to the wire and when I know rains coming I can fold the top portion to the back and clip to the back wire for complete coverage, works great and all the edges are finished so no fraying and having the 7' side draped side to side leaves about a foot and a half on each side at the ground for air movement

work, come home feed and water the fowl yard come in and feed and water the chicks ,change there bedding eat dinner get shower and about to go to bed. also you must be doing a good job with them rubles how about taming my Redmond grey HE IS THE SPAWN had to tarp first foot of bottom of his pen and now that his hen is on eggs. I had to separate him in is own pen.HE DOSE NOT LIKE THAT. THIS BIRD HAS A VERY BAD HATE ON ME. so the story goose. I hatched him and his sister out from eggs had raised in brooder nicest calmest game you can ask for. all the way up about nine months old .and then one day I was in his pen cleaning it and he decided to hate me. out the door I went with him on my heels . now its 100 yards from fowl yard to front of my house. yea you get the pic from fowl yard to the back of my truck than back up to the yard were my net awaited me just in time now we have an under standing or its the cook pot. but I DO NOT GO IN HIS PEN WITH OUT NET. but his sister nicest bird you can ask for befor I put her with a roo I wood go in her pen she wood crouch down with wings open and purr at me SHE THOUT I WAS HER MATE AND THEN SHE WOOD LAY AN EGG this is a true story and to this day I can still pic her up hand feed her and she will come to me. I will post a pic of them they are like night and day.

Cover I am using a combination of burlap sacs and woven plastic feed sacks. Former acts kind of like shade cloth and allows rain through but does not catch wind as bad while latter reflects sunlight and water but is difficult to keep attached all summer. I am liking the camo look of the burlap making so pens are not so obvious to passers-by.
