I meant like putting a name to them like bob bennet gray or hatch gray or kelso. If I'm trying to breed my line what can I call them? Asil grade is the type. Could I put my last name to the breed I have or is that silly?
No, because it's a cross they will not reproduce all the same. If you breed brother to sister you will get birds all over the place from the toppy to the Asil. Besides unless you test mate you don't know which will have the toppy and which want.
It's not a breed until it at least throws type consistently. To do that you have a lot more years in front of you. Breed brother x sister out of each generations for say 7 to 9 more generations and then you can think about the name.

How big does a brood pen need to be? I've got some 5x5 dome pens built. Thinking of making some 4x4s soon. Is this big enough for a pair? I've got some 8x8 size pens, too, would that be big enough for a trio? I'm talking about a pen to put a hen and a rooster in, and I suppose take the rooster out when the hen starts setting. It looks like the hatchery birds that I have might actually need penning.

Remove the rooster if he is still mounting hen after setting. I had this problem before and my roo kept getting on top and stepping on eggs and busting them sso I had to seperate
