LOL, you guys are hilarious.
I've only ever had bantam games, but 2 months ago I scored 2 standard game hens. They've settled in nicely, and have become pretty good pets. I can pet them when they roost now, without them jumping down, they run over for treats, and they follow me around the yard ahead of the others now too. They don't take any crap from Jibbers the rooster, but they listen to the boss hens. They play nice too.
Don't know what they are, they have yellow legs (well, more cream I guess?) and pea combs. BB Red coloring? I forgot to ask the seller I was so excited about getting them. They were the same size when I got them, but one hen has ballooned up to just over 3 pounds, and they're about 6 months old now.
They've added a different dynamic to the flock, teaching the Bantams that worms are food too, and the best places to look for food, and they watch the sky about as much as Jibbers does. I clipped their wings after one decided it was a lot of fun to shoot 40 feet up into a pine tree, or to fly over the fence into a big maple tree. That girl could get some clearance and height going without even a running start!
But they're fun, not flighty at all, great foragers, the first to head to the coop when I round them up, they've started nest building, and they're starting to give Jibbers a little more respect when he makes advances towards them. They play nice with the baby, who's 50/50 D'Anver and OE Bantam. She starts a fight with everyone, and the games will cater to her without going too far.
I'd like to get a Welsummer roo or something like that, that carries the same color but is heavier and from a better laying breed. We'll see.
