Is it poss they are game/dorking X? I have a hen that came with Phoenix that other BYC'ers say is a dorkingX. But, she has a dark face, 5 toes, and lays cream eggs. They all came from an amish auction in MD.

Peter came in a pen with these two, thought he was a hen at first, he's about 5 months old now.
"Sr. and Ms. FuzzyBottom" They both have 5 toes, thinking silked dorkings?

The Dorking has a rectangular body with very short, five-toed legs. Due to its relatively large comb it generally requires protection in cold weather. Dorkings are also well known for their versatility as a breed for both egg and meat production. It is one of the few breeds with red earlobes that produces a white-shelled egg. The skin colour beneath the feathers is white. The standard weight is 9 pounds for a cock, 8 pounds for a cockerel, 7 pounds for a hen, and 6 pounds for a pullet. Furthermore, the breed is very docile. The bird has five recognized varieties: White, Silver-grey, Red, Dark and Cuckoo.(1)
They are noted for being exceptionally broody at times in entire flocks refusing to lay and preferring to set on eggs to incubate them.

gonna have to go with my fellow okie on the dorkings...they are referenced by the Romans so I am going with a fairly ancient breed. thought to have been brought to England by them...

yes they(the dorking) were bred out of the GameFowl ...... (GameFowl) which is now said to be the original domesticated fowl . The farmers or chicken lovers of those days crossed the gamefowl (that were brought in on the ships or got from travelers)on local birds and produced the Dorkings ........... pretty much like the Marans were originated .......... game fowl were mixed with local chickens and ba-boom we have another unique breed . This breed could have been originated in rome or anywhere that the romans traveled , could of been handed down to the romans (we just don't know exactly).
