He looks pretty darn expensive to me! Ha. I bet he could run off some of the lager predators around here..by the way, can they fly well? Cadjien? Just curious. Or are they more ground runners? (Can you tell I don't know much about that breed?)

Been awhile since I visited this thread!

I was wondering if any of you know of American Game Bantam breeders here in NC. I've always thought AG bantams were beautiful creatures and I am curious about them. A couple questions I do have (for those who might know) are as follows:

1) Are AG bantams game? (I ask this merely because the popular Old English "Game" bantam is not game, and also because a Feathersite article I read stated that their are some strains of AG bantams bred specifically for pit, and others for show.)
2) How common are pea-combed AG bantam strains?

Thanks and God bless,
~Gresh~
Gresh, there are two types of AG bantam. The first was created purely for the show room and is no gamer than a OId English in my opinion; I read once that one of the main breeders of them crossed in jungle fowl or something to add in fuller feathers. As a result, you will find that most AG bantam are probably not game, come only single combed, and I believe the correct color is slate legged (someone correct me if I am wrong).

You will though find birds that have been bred down from people's pit fowl, that will result in game bantams that may also vary in type (pea combed, wrong leg color, etc) but not always a guarantee as most people who get into the bantams do look to show them and therefore will select for the single combed gene/slate legs (typically speaking, not as if all will).

God bless,
Daniel.

What a lot of beautiful chicken pictures :love Some very nice pens too. It decide to get cold here so been doing winterizing in the coop etc.

Achickenwrangler I don't know whats with the picture loading. Seems people are periodically having troubles with it. I have been downsizing my pictures to under 1000X750 before I try loading them on BYC. It just takes shorter amount of time and I don't have as many problems.
