Runners do most of their vertical posturing when they're on alert in my experience, otherwise they carry themselves more horizontally. Do you have more photos of yours?

Here's mine on semi-alert, more annoyed than anything.

Mine are probably fat too, admittedly. Could also be the result of breeding that's not terribly selective, which could also be the case for yours and mine. But I do see the upright posture a lot in mine. Have you seen it?

Not yet, it seemed more of a waddle and we were only out there a few minutes. Unfortunately, my phone is also full! Darn technology... I'll try again in a few more days(after I've cleared out a few pictures too) I'm glad to hear they could still be runners and they might just not be on alert. Here's to hopin!

From my experience the drakes stand taller and straighter than the ducks. My first Runners, bought from Holderread's in Corvallis, OR., stand very straight and tall. The second group of runners I bought from McMurry's. I am convinced they are not 100% runners. They are smaller... and some of them are very noisy like a call duck. So I suspect someone was trying to create a small bantam Runner. At any rate... Runners should stand straight up like a walking bowling pin.
