Show off your Indian Runners!

In other news....I am going to go ahead and assume that females engaging in mating behavior with each other is normal? My 2 female Runners are about 6 mos. old now and when I cleaned and refilled the pool this morning, they hopped in and started bobbing and chattering like they always do, and usually one will "squat" for the other (aka lay down in the water with her neck stretched and her wings slightly out) but today, Ivy, my F+W actually got on top of Willow, and they were trying to get some business taken care of

Yes, I'm sure they are both female, there are no drake curls and the quack racket they make is unmistakable. They haven't laid yet, but I am just assuming they will wait out the winter and start in Spring, they were born in July.

Also....do everyone elses ducks get all fussy about snow? Mine will walk out a ways and then start high-stepping like little soldiers....I think their feet are chilly lol. Then they really get cold and have to plop down to cover their feet...poor silly girls...will they be okay or do I need to think about little snow booties?

I keep a few places covered with shavings or straw so they can get up off the snow.

It takes a few days for mine to get accustomed to snow, then they start eating it, and life is good.

Howdy,
Here are my runners! I still have a bit of switching around to do;only going to keep 2 drakes, there are currently 4 and get a few more duckettes.
The majority of these are still juveniles with the baby coats on and mid moult. :)

They are all named after famous eccentric people as they live in the 'quackhouse'.

So far I have Frank (Zappa), Vlad, Gaddafi, Clyde, Bonnie, Hetty Green, and Frida. :p
We had a beautiful black drake, Dali, but he's gone now.

Cheerio!

Great bunch!
