I would love to show off my OEGB... if I had any...

I fell in love with a pic of a Crele roo and the description of their personalities have me drooling for more yard candy. I have two broody Silkies right now and I can get some OEGB hatching eggs. I would love to keep at least one little roo. However, I have 2 Silkie cockerels free ranging with 10 hens - Easter Eggers, Dominiques and Silkies. I would like to keep them.

I've heard the bantams are not as aggressive as the standards, but would there still be really nasty battles? Is keeping at least one Silkie roo and one OEGB roo a pipe dream?

I don't run my OEGBs out on my yard, but it has more to do with knowing exactly what I'm hatching, and the presence of fox, hawks and eagles around my house, than it does a fear of epic cockfights. They learn their place in the grand scheme of things quickly when out there on the yard.

Occasionally I have one that doesn't realize his handicap, but it's rare.

Here is a photograph of one of my Black Breasted Red taken a month or so ago. Spring came early to northern Utah. Got to say that I just love the OEGB birds, all colors, patterns and even mixes. It is all good by me. I keep at present BBR, SDW, and Gingers. Love them all. Thanks to all whom keep this thread moving forward…

Best to all and your banty birds,

RJ

Bantam roosters will take on anything of any size (I really don't know how they compare with standards) but if raised together from chicks they will usually just spat a little until they establish a pecking order and then get along very well together. At least that's been my experience.
