Show off your Old English Game Bantams!!

Is it true that the darker colored ones are more likely females?  All 4 of my new ones have pretty dark brown heads.  And eyeliner too!

I love black beaks!

The darker chicks do seem to be more than likely females. Any breaks in the line, fuzzy markings, overall lighter color tend to be males. Not 100%, but more times than not.

I have a black OEGB from Easter weekend that is probably the darkest chick I've ever hatched. Legs and beak are black, bottoms of feet are very black.

So, 2 blacks, 2 lemon blue x lemon blue. Who is who?

Hello! Long time lurker but new OEGB owner. I have five Mille fleur babies that are almost three weeks old now. I have a question... Do all baby OEGB babies have spur buds or did I happen to get a whole batch of roosters? The buds look like little white nubbins and are smaller than the head of a pin. I am having trouble uploading a picture. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

OEGB pullets and cockerels can have spur buds.

Thank you! I was worried. So I should focus on redness of the comb then? I still have a few roosters of that is the case. But at least I might get a nice hen out of the five!

It's too early to try and sex them by their combs. Give them a little time. Out of 5 chicks, the odds of you getting at least one hen are pretty good.

Pretty sure the one in the very front is a black. The rest all hatched at night. I honestly don't know which are which. I'll have to wait until they feather out enough to tell.

I was just throwing out a wild guess
The one on the back right does have a bit lighter beak, does that indicate anything? Probably not. Lol
